Mayor's Conference Room
The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville met in Special Session on Wednesday,
September 16, 2009. Mayor Tom Galligan called the meeting to order, and on call of the
roll those members present were: Councilpersons Ed Zastawny, Keith Fetz, Barbara
Wilson, Ron Grooms, and Nathan Samuel. Absent were Mike Smith and Connie Sellers.
Also present were: Financial Advisor Mattingly, Chief Deputy Clerk Bass, and Deputy
Clerk Timberlake.
2009-OR-34
Sewer Superintendent Len Ashack came before the Council to go over the Consent
Decree Appendix D (see attached). He also explained the changes that were made to
2009-OR-34 An Ordinance Amending the Salary Ordinance. Councilperson Zastawny
made the motion to pass 2009-OR-34 on the second reading, seconded by Councilperson
Grooms passing 5-0.
2009-OR-35
Chief Deputy Clerk Bass came before the Council to present 2009-OR-35, the 2010
Salary Ordinance, for the second reading. Discussion was held and Councilperson
Grooms made the motion to remove all board members from the salary ordinance and to
leave the raise at 3.8%, seconded by Councilperson Zastawny passing 5-0.
Fire Budget
Following a brief discussion over the fire department's budget, Councilperson Samuel
made the motion to make the following changes to the fire budget:
-Eliminate the Oak Park column
-Eliminate First Responder pay as stated in Fire contract.
-Lower accrued benefits from $80,000 to $20,000
Councilperson Grooms seconded the motion and it passed 5-0.
Police Budget
A discussion was held on the police department's budget. Councilperson Grooms made
the motion to remove the Oak Park column from the police budget and to put $135,000 in
the police cars column, seconded by Councilperson Wilson passing 5-0.
Councilperson Grooms made the motion to adjourn at 920,,sec~Onded by Councilperson
Zastawny. `
