MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
AUGUST 26, 2009
Planning and Zoning Director Urban called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those
members present were: City Engineer Miller and Councilperson Wilson. Vehicle Maintenance Director
Drury sat in as a voting member of the Board.
Also present were: Assistant Police Chief Grimes, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, City Attorney
Wilder, Parks Director Manor, Safety Director Lovan, Sewer Office Manager Mattingly, Personnel
Director Calabro, Street Commissioner Hosea, Executive Assistant Young, Animal Shelter Director
Wilder, City Engineer Crouch, Assistant Fire Chief Lee, Sewer Inspector Wright, Building
Commissioner Segraves, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield.
Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the minutes of 8-19-09 as presented,
seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by
Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS
WIDOWS WALK SIGN REQUEST
Brian Fraley who owns the Widows Walk Ice Cream shop in Clarksville near the Falls of the
Ohio asked permission to erect a sign at Exit 0 for his ice cream shop. After some discussion
Planning and Zoning Director Urban advised him to ask the Tourism Bureau for permission
to use an existing sign and give him a letter to bring back to the Board of Public Works.
BRIDGE CLOSURE REQUEST
Jeff Staton asked permission to close the Second Street bridge on Sunday, September 13,
2009 for the Louisville Aids Walk from 2:00 to 4:30 pm. Planning and Zoning Director
Urban told him to check with Kye's and make sure there are no other events that day.
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the bridge closure on Sunday, September 13,
2009 from 2:00 to 4:30 pm, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously.

SPEED LIMIT SIGNS/FLAGSTAFF AND BANNER
Howard Little requested speed limit signs in his subdivision. He said there are small children
and there are presently no speed limit signs or children at play signs. Councilperson Wilson
made the motion to approve the signs, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
The police department will check the location.
There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Councilperson Wilson made the
motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:45 a.m., seconded by Engineer Miller and carried
unanimously.
