MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
AUGUST 12, 2009
Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present
were: Engineer Miller and Councilperson Wilson.
Also present were: Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Building Commissioner Segraves, Animal
Shelter Director Wilder, Parks Director Manor, Sewer Office Manager Mattingly, WWTP Assistant
Superintendent Kearney, Asst. Police Chief Pavey, Growth Coordinator Lovan, Street Commissioner
Hosea, Safety Director Mongarella, Code Enforcement Officer Sellers, Assistant Fire Chief Lee,
Communications Director Thomas, Planning and Zoning Director Fogle, Human Resources Director
Calabro, Sewer Inspector Wright, City Attorney Wilder, Executive Assistant Young, and Deputy Clerk
Mayfield.
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried
• unanimously.
Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the minutes of 8-5-2009 as presented, seconded by
Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS
UNSAFE BUILDING AT 410 THOMPSON LANE
Code Enforcement Officer Sellers told the Board that Mr. Paris the owner of the property at 410
Thompson Lane has requested an extension of 60 days. He has hired an excavator to tear down the
structure. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the 60 day extension, seconded by
Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously.
915-917 E. COURT AVENUE
Building Commissioner Segraves and Planning and Zoning Director Urban said a schedule and
guidelines have been set for work to be performed at 915/917 E. Court Avenue. If the owner fails to
meets the schedule other measures will be taken. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the
letter being sent to the owner stating the guidelines, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried
unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS
• BIDS/SANITATION TRUCK
A bid was received from Best Equipment in the amount of $141,141.44. Engineer Miller made the
motion to take the bid under advisement, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously.
WALL STREET PARKING RESTRICTION
Keith Staton requested that a handicapped parking sign be taken down on Wall Street and asked that the
2 hour parking to be lifted in order for tenants of the apartment building to park. The police will check
the location.
SALE OF PRODUCE
Sylvester Tutt came before the Board to request permission to sell produce on city streets. After some
discussion Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the sale of produce on city streets,
seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
PARK AND RIDE LOT SIGN
Planning and Zoning Director Fogle asked approval to hang a Park and Lot sign on 9t1' Street. Engineer
Miller made the motion to approve the sign, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried
unanimously.
BLOCK PARTY REQUEST/LUTHER CIRCLE
Ronnett Whaley asked permission to hold a Back to School party on August 21, 2009. The board told
her the music could go from 8 pm till 11 pm with the party itself ending at midnight. Barricades will be
dropped off for her use in blocking the streets. Mayor Galligan told her the music needs to be kept at a
reasonable level. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the block party on August 21, 2009,
seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously.
There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Engineer Miller made the
motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:53 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried
