HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-05-2009• MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA AUGUST 5, 2009 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Engineer Miller and Councilperson Wilson. Also present were: Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Building Commissioner Segraves, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Fire Chief Harrod, Parks Director Manor, Sewer Office Manager Mattingly, WWTP Assistant Superintendent Kearney, Event Coordinator Knight, Police Chief Deeringer, Growth Coordinator Lovan, Street Commissioner Hosea, Safety Director Mongarella, Code Enforcement Officer Sellers, Assistant Fire Chief Lee, Communications Director Thomas, City Engineer Crouch, Assistant Fire Chief Decker, IT Director Hardy, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the minutes of 7-29-09 as presented, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS SIGN REQUEST/JO'S BARBER SHOP JoAnn Crabb requested permission to erect a sign on her barber shop on Court Avenue. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the sign request, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. INDOT LPA HAMBURG PIKE AGREEMENT Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the right-of--way acquisition agreement between the City of Jeffersonville and INDOT, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. UNSAFE BUILDING/410 THOMPSON LANE Code Enforcement Officer Sellers recommended to the Board that the structure at 410 Thompson Lane be torn down by the City due to failure by the owners to make the necessary repairs. Owners James and Wanda Paris did not appear before the Board. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve tearing down the structure with City Attorney Darren Wilder sending the owner a letter giving them 30 days to remove their belongings, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. LST CLOSURES Event Coordinator Knight presented street closures for August 20 thru August 30, 2009 as follows: Sunday, August 23 from 3:30-6:30 pm Second Street Bridge August 20-30, 2009 Riverside Drive from Pearl Street Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the street closures, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. 915 E. COURT AVENUE Fran Evola and John McGinnis of 911 E. Court Avenue came before the Board in regard to the property at 915 E. Court Avenue. They said that Mark Elliott has started numerous projects on the property that have never been finished and they feel that their property value is being diminished because of this. They ask that something be done about the situation. They said it has been going on for years.
