OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
JULY 29, 2009
City Engineer Miller called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members
present were: Growth Coordinator Lovan sitting in for Engineer Miller and Councilperson Wilson.
Also present were: Assistant Police Chief Pavey, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, City Attorney
Wilder, Parks Director Manor, Fire Chief Harrod, Building Commissioner Segraves, Animal Shelter
Director Wilder, Personnel Director Calabro, Street Commissioner Hosea, Sewer Inspector Wright,
WWTP Director Ashack, Engineer Crouch, Communications Director Thomas, Safety Director
Mongarella, Growth Coordinator Lovan, Assistant Fire Chief Lee, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield.
Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the minutes of 7-22-09 as presented, and
seconded by Growth Coordinator Lovan and carried unanimously.
Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, and seconded by
Growth Coordinator Lovan and carried unanimously.
• OLD BUSINESS
ALLISON LANE SIDEWALKS
Josh Hillman of Jacobi, Toombs, and Lanz reported that the easement has been acquired and
the sidewalks have been started in front of Beech Grove Apartments.
NEW BUSINESS
RESIDENT ONLY PARKING SIGN REQUEST
Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve a resident only parking sign in front of
218 E. Maple Street pending. police approval, seconded by Growth Coordinator Lovan and
carried unanimously.
REQUEST FOR SPEED SWELLS ON MYRTLE, WILLIAM, AND MARY STREETS
Resident Gina Lawrence requested speed swells on Myrtle, William, and Mary Streets due to
speeders. She said her daughter was almost hit recently and something needs to be done.
Engineer Miller said he doesn't think that speed swells will help much and he asked the
police department to step up patrols in that area. If there is no improvement he told her to
come back to the Board.
ROAD CLOSURE/NEW CHAPEL SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
Josh Hillman of Jacobi, Toombs, and Lanz requested approval of road closures in order for
Mac Construction to do the New Chapel Sanitary Sewer Improvements. The roads will be
closed for approximately two to three weeks from 9 am to 3 pm. The residents will be
• notified and postings will be made of the closures. The completion date is thought to be the
beginning of November. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the closures,
seconded by Growth Coordinator Lovan and carried unanimously.
STREET CLOSURE/CHARLESTOWN AVENUE/Back to School Event
Growth Coordinator Lovan made the motion to approve closing Charlestown Avenue at the
parking lot at Maple Elementary School on August 22, 2009 from 6-9 pm fora "Back to
School" event, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously.
There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Councilperson Wilson made the
motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:05 a.m., seconded by Growth Coordinator Lovan and
carried unanimously.
