MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
July 22, 2009
In Mayor Galligan's absence Planning and Zoning Director Urban called the meeting to order at 9:30
a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Engineer Miller and Councilperson Wilson.
Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury sat in as a voting member of the Board.
Also present were: Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Building Commissioner Segraves, Animal
Shelter Director Wilder, Fire Chief Harrod, Parks Director Manor, Sewer Office Manager Mattingly,
Personnel Director Calabro, Assistant Sewer Superintendent Kearney, Event Coordinator Knight,
Police Chief Deeringer, Growth Coordinator Lovan, Street Commissioner Hosea, Safety Director
Mongarella, Sewer Superintendent Ashack, Aquatics Director Kraft, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield.
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried
• unanimously.
Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the minutes of 7-15-09 as presented, seconded by
Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS
ALLISON LANE SIDEWALKS
Josh Hillman with Jacobi, Toombs, and Lanz said Buckingham Properties; the owner of Beech Grove
Apartments has agreed to pay the $3,500.00 legal fees to allow the sidewalk to be done in front of the
apartments.
NEW BUSINESS
ART ON THE OHIO
Sara Kraft asked the Board to approve the blocking of Spring Street to Wall Street on Friday evening of
August 21, Saturday August 22 and Sunday August 23 for the Art on the Ohio from 10 am to 6 pm.
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the request, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried
unanimously.
• LST 325 ARRIVAL
Events Coordinator Knight presented a list of needs for the arrival of the LST 325 ship on August 20,
2009. Tours will begin on August 21, 2009. Riverside Drive between Spring and Pearl Streets will be
closed.
NOISE ORDINANCE
Councilperson Wilson said she has received phone calls about the noise from motorcycles downtown at
Third Base Tavern. Chief Deeringer said it is hard to monitor that as there is no decibel meter. All that
can be done is to ask the bar to ask it's patrons to keep the noise down as much as possible when
departing.
There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Engineer Miller made the
motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:00 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried
unanimously.
