City Hall Council. Conference Room
The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville met in Special Session on Monday,
June 29, 2009. Council President Connie Sellers called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M.,
and on call of the roll those members present were: Councilpersons Mike Smith, Ed
Zastawny, Keith Fetz, Barbara Wilson, Ron Grooms, Connie Sellers, and Nathan Samuel.
Also present was Deputy Clerk Treasurer Tiffany Timberlake
Councilperson Grooms made the motion to approve the agenda, second by Councilperson
Zastawny, passing on a vote of 7-0.
Resignation
Councilperson Smith made the motion to accept Larry Wilder's resignation as City
Council Attorney, seconded by Councilperson Grooms, passing on a vote of 7-0.
Discussion of Legal Council
Councilperson Samuel presented a draft Request for Proposals Notice. After a brief
discussion Councilperson Grooms made the motion to appoint Councilperson Fetz,
Councilperson Wilson, and Council President Sellers to a City Council Attorney Search
Committee, seconded by Councilperson Samuel, passing on a vote of 7-0. The deadline
for proposals to be submitted is July 15, 2009, and the Committee will present the
proposals to the Council on July 29, 2009.
Councilperson Samuel asked what the Council wanted to do with the Ordinances that are
currently being created. Councilperson Smith supports waiting until a new attorney is
chosen before continuing with those Ordinances.
Councilperson Zastawny made the motion to authorize Council President Sellers to hire
an attorney in the case of an emergency, seconded by Councilperson Grooms, passing on
a vote of 7-0.
Councilperson Fetz made the motion to adjourn at 6:15 P.M., second by Council
President Sellers, passing on a vote of 7-0.
