MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
JUNE 24, 2009
In Mayor Galligan's absence City Engineer Miller called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of
the roll those members present were: Building Commissioner Segraves sitting in for Engineer Miller
and Councilperson Wilson.
Also present were: Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Building Commissioner Segraves, Animal
Shelter Director Wilder, Assistant Fire Chief Decker, Parks Director Manor, Sewer Office Manager
Mattingly, Redevelopment Director Robinson, Personnel Director Calabro, Assistant Sewer
Superintendent Kearney, Code Enforcement Officer Frey, Assistant Fire Chief Lee, Event Coordinator
Knight, Executive Assistant Young, City Attorney Wilder, WWTP Director Ashack, IT Director Hardy,
Safety Director Mongarella, Police Detective Hollis, Growth Coordinator Lovan, Communications
Director Thomas, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield.
Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Building Commissioner
Segraves and carried unanimously.
Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the minutes of 6-17-09 as presented, seconded by
Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS
ANIMAL PROBLEM ON NACHAND LANE
Animal Shelter Director Wilder said there is still a problem with cats on Nachand Lane where the house
fire occurred. He said many of the animals have died due to an illness and that the animals brought to
the shelter have died as well as animals already at the shelter that came in contact with them. Code
Enforcement Officer Frey said the issue of the house where the fire occurred will be on next weeks
agenda for the Board of Public Works.

• NEW BUSINESS
RIVERSTAGE STREET CLOSURES
Events Coordinator Knight asked for street closures on the following dates:
June 27, 2009 from 6 pm until 11 pm for the movie "Mamma Mia".
July 4, 11, 18, and 25 from 6 pm until 10 pm for the Louisville Orchestra.
Permit Parking
Boat ramp area and parking lot at Spring and Market Streets from 5 pm until 11 pm on July 4,
11, 18, and 25th for Louisville Orchestra.
Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the closures, seconded by Building
Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously.
4318 UTICA-SELLERSBURG ROAD
Cary Dyson appeared before the Board in regard to property owned by his mother that has
been cited for property maintenance. His attorney John R. Vissing submitted a letter to the
Board stating why the maintenance has not been completed and asked that the house not be
torn down on June 26, 2009. He said there is also a problem with the title and the Dyson's
were not able to borrow money to do the repairs because of it. After discussion,
Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve Cary Dyson meeting with his attorney
and getting a plan of action together and reporting back to the Board in two weeks, seconded
• by Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously.
There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Councilperson Wilson made the
motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:45 a.m., seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves
and carried unanimously.
