OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
MARCH 18, 2009
In Mayor Galligan's absence Planning and Zoning Director Urban called the meeting to order at 9:30
a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Engineer Miller and Councilperson Wilson.
Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury sat in as a voting member of the Board.
Also present were: Police Chief Deeringer, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, City Attorney
Wilder, Parks Director Manor, Assistant Fire Chief Grant, IT Director Hardy, Safety Director Lovan,
Sewer Office Manager Mattingly, Building Commissioner Segraves, Assistant Police Chief Pavey,
Personnel Director Calabro, City Engineer Crouch, Street Commissioner Hosea, Assistant Police Chief
Grimes, Executive Assistant Young, Communications Director Thomas, Receptionist Boone, and
Deputy Clerk Mayfield.
Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the minutes of 3-11-09 as presented, and
~econded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS
PINWHEELS IN PARKS
Cathy Graninger asked permission to put pinwheels in the city parks for "Prevent Child
Abuse" month which is April 21 through April 30, 2009. Engineer Miller made the motion to
approve the request, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously.
SECOND STREET BRIDGE CLOSING/SUSAN G. KOMEN RACE FOR CURE
John DeFazio asked permission to use the Indiana portion of the Second Street Bridge as a
turn around for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 9
am. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the request, seconded by Engineer
Miller and carried unanimously.
2021 HAMBURG PIKE/UNSAFE BUILDING
Planning and Zoning Director Urban on behalf of Kathy Hamblin asked for an extension of
time to try to sell her property due to health issues. He recommended giving her an extra
thirty days. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve giving her a thirty day
~xtension, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
YELLOW CURB REQUEST AT 1112 E. NINTH STREET
Ken Stubblefield requested the curb be painted yellow on both sides of his driveway at 1112
E. Ninth Street so he can get in and out. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve
this request, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
HANDICAPPED PARKING SIGN/1035 E. MAPLE STREET
Joe Burch asked for a handicapped parking sign at 1035 E. Maple Street. The police will go
out and check the location. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the
handicapped parking sign pending police approval, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried
unanimously.
ALLISON LANE SIDEWALKS
Josh Hillman gave an update on the Allison Lane sidewalks. He said construction is to begin
next week.
KEHOE AND JONQUIL DRIVE
Engineer Miller said the resident at the corner of Kehoe and Jonquil Drive are parking three
vehicles on the corner making it visually impossible to pull out. He would like the police to
check this location and report back next week.
There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Engineer Miller made the
motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:53 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried
unanimously. t
