ORDINANCE NO. 92-OR- 2 Z
ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING INDIVIDUAL
RESIDENT ONLY PARKING AREAS
WHEREAS, certain residents of the City of Jeffersonville own residences which
do not have off street parking; and
WHEREAS, the location of a residence around or near areas which become highly
congested with parked vehicles which poses a hardship for the residents; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Jeffersonville is
organized such that it meets on a weekly basis and is particularly suited to hear and
address problems related to resident parking.
NOW, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF 7CHE
JEFFERSONVILLE, that the Board of Public Works may create resident only parkking
areas.
SECTION I. -FEES
The Board of Public Works shall establish an annual uniform fee which shall be
required for each resident only parking space. This fee may be waived upon a majority
vote of the Board of Public Works in cases of hardship.
Any resident only parking area which has previously been designated by the Board
of Public Works within the previous twelve months of the passage of this ordinance shall,
without additional fee, automatically be established as resident only parking area. All
other resident only parking areas may be renewed only upon written or personal
application to the Board of Public Works and upon payment of the aforesaid fee.
SECTION II. -MARKINGS
A resident only parking area shall be 20' in length and shall be marked by a sign
and paint marks on the curbing or street at each erid of the resident only parking space
placed by the City of Jeffersonville Street Department.
SECTION III. -PENALTIES
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person who is the operator or owner of a vehicle
to allow it to be parked in a resident. only parking area, unless permission has been
secured by the owner of the residence which has caused the space to be establishedl.

(b} Any vehicle which is pazked in a resident only parking azea, without
permission of the owner of the residence who has caused the resident only pazking azea
to be established shall be towed at the expense-cif the operator or owner of the vehicle.
The vehicle shall not be released from impound until the towing and any storage fee have
been paid.
In addition to any towing and storage fees any person who violates this ordinance
may be fined in an amount of up to $250.00.
