HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-21-2009• MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA JANUARY 21, 2009 In Mayor Galligan's absence Planning and Zoning Director Urban called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Engineer Miller and Councilperson Wilson. Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury sat in as a voting member of the Board. Also present were: Police Chief Deeringer, Human Resources Director Calabro, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Attorney Darren Wilder, Parks Director Manor, Assistant Fire Chief Lee, IT Director Hardy, Safety Director Lovan, Redevelopment Director Robinson, Sewer Office Manager Mattingly, Building Commissioner Segraves, City Engineer Crouch, Planning and Zoning Director Urban, Street Commissioner Hosea, Communications Director Thomas, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. GARBAGE/REFUSE FEE SCHEDULE AND FINES Attorney Darren Wilder presented to the Board for approval the garbage fee and fine schedule. After some discussion Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the agreement, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. Code Enforcement Officer Sellers asked if the agreement should spell out what department is to collect the fees and fines. Attorney Wilder said it wasn't necessary to do that. MARINA POLICIES AND TENANT RULES AGREEMENT Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the 2009 Marina Policies and Tenant Rules, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. HANDICAPPED PARKING SIGN-629 MECHANIC STREET Timothy Bowley requested a handicapped parking sign for himself and his wife. The police will check the location. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the sign pending police approval, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. FUND RAISER Timothy Bowley said Community Bank has set up a charity fund to assist in collecting money for the purpose of paying Mr. and Mrs. Bowley's mortgage, utilities, and medical needs. He was injured in a fall recently and is unable to work. He has fliers to post in various places. He resides in the Franklin Commons neighborhood. Planning and Zoning Director Urban said having the Franklin Commons Association sponsor the fund raiser would the best solution. UNSAFE BUILDING AT 1027 KEHOE LANE Code Enforcement Officer Sellers said property owner Charles Moreland is cleaning out the building and has asked fora 90 day extension to complete as he is currently in the hospital. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve granting the 90 day extension, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. 410 E. MAPLE STREET Planning and Zoning Director Urban said there is a large tree at 410 E. Maple Street on private property next to the sidewalk that is hazard to pedestrians. He said the owner of the property has passed away and the executor of the estate has asked that the city remove the tree and have a lien placed on the property. Attorney Darren Wilder said a signature needs to be obtained from the executor allowing the tax lien on the property. Street Commissioner Hosea said he will get a price on removing the tree. There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:00 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. 1 ST: CLERK ASURER •
