HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-25-2008• MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA JUNE 25, 2008 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Engineer Miller and Councilperson Ron Grooms sitting in for Councilperson Wilson. Also present were: Chief of Staff Young, Deputy Fire Chief Lee, Purchase Order Clerk Smith, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Street Commissioner Hosea, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Attorney Wilder, Personnel Director Calabro, IT Director Hardy, Parks Director Manor, Receptionist Timberlake, Communications Director Thomas, Safety Director Lovan, Planning and Zoning Director Urban, Asst. Fire Chief Grant, Sewer Office Manager Mattingly, Code Enforcement Officer Frey, Redevelopment Director Robinson, Police Chief Deeringer, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Councilperson Grooms made the motion to approve the Board of Public Works minutes of 6-18-08 as presented, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Councilperson Grooms and carried unanimously. MOTORCYCLE POKER RUN Tom Lovelace who is with Bob Hook Chevrolet appeared before the Board regarding the Motorcyle Poker Run fundraiser to benefit Down Syndrome of Louisville on Saturday, June 28, 2008. He asked permission to park motorcycles in front of Hooters on Riverside Drive on that day from 3:30 pm ti116:30 pm. After some discussion Councilperson Grooms made the motion to approve the request, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. TRAFFIC SIGNS AT PARK PLACE AND MAIN Resident Wayne Carter appeared before the Board in regard to traffic confusion at Park Place and Main Street. He said motorists are running stop signs making it a dangerous area. After some discussion the Board decided to have two- four way lit up stop signs and "thru traffic does not stop" signs erected. r-~ ~_~ CHANGE ORDER FOR HVAC IN CITY HALL En ineer Miller made the motion to approve the Change Order for HVAC in the amount of g $2,170.00 payable to ECT Services, seconded by Councilperson Grooms and carried unanimously. The purchase order number is 1317. BLUE TEAL Planning and Zoning Director Urban said a fence has been knocked down at the end of Blue Teal Lane by foot traffic. Mayor Galligan said a guard rail can be installed. Street Commissioner Hosea is going to check it out. 4TH OF JULY PARADE Safety Director Lovan said signs are going up around the City promoting the July 4th Parade. 303 AND 305 E. MARKET STREET Police Chief Deeringer asked the Building Commissioner's office to check 303 and 305 E. Market Street. There have been reports of people going in and out of the abandoned house on the property. Code Enforcement Officer Frey said she would check the location and report back. There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:00 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Grooms and carried unanimously.
