HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-18-2008 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA JUNE 18, 2008 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Engineer Miller and Gouncilperson Wilson. Also present were: Fire Chief Harrod, Chief of Staff Young, Deputy Fire Chief Lee, Purchase Order Clerk Smith, Asst. Police Chief Pavey, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Building Commissioner Segraves, Street Commissioner Hosea, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Attorney Wilder, IT Director Hardy, Parks Director Manor, Communications Director Thomas, Planning and Zoning Director Urban, Emergency Planner Christian, Asst. Fire Chief Grant, Police Chief Deeringer, Redevelopment Director Robinson, Safety Director Lovan, Sewer Office Manager Mattingly, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. ADRIENNE'S BAKERY • Bernie Pasquantino with Adrienne's Bakery said he is interested in leasing the Triangle Building on Court Avenue to put in a drive-thru coffee shop. Mayor Galligan asked him to put together a plan to be reviewed. He said the main problem if any would be traffic concerns. VISSING'S GARAGE Mary Beth Hughes spoke on behalf of Gus and Bubby Vissing saying that they are looking to buy property at 1611 Spring Street for their business. She asked if the right of way could be vacated as to allow for parking. They have discussed this with Planning and Zoning Director Urban. A title search will be done to find out if the right of way has been vacated. After some discussion, Engineer Miller made the motion to allow parking on the street or right of way in front of the building if purchased and to go through Planning and Zoning, seconded by Gouncilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. DOOR TO DOOR SALES Greg Young and David Kingston requested permission to go door to door selling Security Systems by Platinum Protection for approximately three months Monday through Saturday from 10:30 am to 7 pm. Gouncilperson Wilson made the motion to approve a permit to go door to door selling Security Systems, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. • PARADE OF HOMES Alan Connor representing the Home Builders of Southern Indiana asked the Board for permission to put up directional signs in the right of ways for ten days starting on June 19, 2008. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve erection of the signs for ten days, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. BIDS- SIDELOADER Bids were received from Best Equipment $139,507.26 Pyramid $122,031.30 McNeilus $110,927.00 ASPHALT Bids were received from: Gohmann Asphalt, Mac Construction, McCrite Milling, and Sellersburg Stone. Engineer Miller made the motion to take all the bids under advisement, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. ROLLING RIDGE STREET LIGHT Councilperson Wilson inquired about the status if the light. Engineer Miller said it has been turned in. ONE WAY ALLEY REQUEST Engineer Miller made the motion to approve making a one way alley between 8t~' and 9~~' Streets and Meigs Avenue and Watt Street going north, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. • There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:30 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously.
