HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-03-2008• MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORK AND S SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA DECEMBER 3, 2008 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:40 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Engineer Miller and Councilperson Wilson. Also present were: Executive Assistant Young, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Building Commissioner Segraves, IT Director Hardy, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Assistant Fire Chief Lee, Attorney Darren Wilder, Parks Director Manor, Fire Chief Harrod, Purchase Order Clerk Smith, Asst. Fire Chief Grant, Police Chief Deeringer, Sewer Office Manager Mattingly, Redevelopment Director Robinson, City Engineer Crouch, Planning and Zoning Director Urban, Street Commissioner Hosea, and Communications Director Thomas, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried • unanimously. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the minutes of 11-19-08 and 11-26-08 as presented, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. OLD BUSINESS 1039 NACHAND LANE Building Commissioner Segraves asked the Board to dismiss any action by the City as the property has been vacated. He said there is still an animal in the house. Mayor Galligan told Animal Shelter Director Wilder to remove the animal from the property. NEW BUSINESS PARADE PERMIT REQUEST Janice Leaven came before the Board for permission to hold the annual Martin Luther King parade on January 19, 2009. She said they will have a motorcade starting at City Hall and ending at St. Stephen's Church. The event begins at 1:00 pm. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the request, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. r 1 U EWING LANE TREE ROOT PROBLEM • Councilperson Wilson spoke on behalf of Ms. Porter who resides on Ewing Lane. She said Ms. Porter is having a problem with roots from a neighbor's water maple tree getting into her sewer lines. She said the neighbor called the police and she was told by them that she couldn't dig up the roots in her own yard. Mayor Galligan suggested that her neighbor come to the Board to explain why he thinks she shouldn't or can't dig in her yard.
