HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-15-2008• MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA OCTOBER 15, 2008 In Mayor Galligan's absence Engineer Miller called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Building Commissioner Segraves and Councilperson Wilson. Also present were: Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Building Commissioner Segraves, Human Resources Director Calabro, Redevelopment Director Robinson, Attorney Wilder, Parks Director Manor, Chief of Staff Young, Growth Coordinator Lovan, Police Chief Deeringer, Communications Director Thomas, Sewer Office Manager Mattingly, Purchase Order Clerk Smith, Aquatics Director Kraft, Assistant Fire Chief Lee, Emergency Planner Christian, Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Councilperson • Wilson and carried unanimously. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the minutes of 10-08-08 as presented, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS LIVE MUSIC REQUEST Joel Stinnett on behalf of J Train Pizza at 201 Spring Street asked the Board to approve live music and a beer truck outside of J Train Pizza on Friday, October 31, 2008. He said the music would end at 2:45 am. Board members said the noise ordinance states 7 am to 7 pm as the allowable time unless special permission is granted. After some discussion, Councilperson Wilson made the motion to table this request for further discussion and information, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously. RESIDENT ONLY PARKING/HANDICAPPED PARKING Jennifer Yatalese appeared before the Board to ask permission to obtain a resident only parking sign in front of her residence at 803 Ohio Avenue. She said she has a handicapped child and is trying to get a handicapped permit. The police will go out and check the location. Engineer Miller told her if she could get the handicapped sticker then she wouldn't have to pay the $100.00 per year for Resident Only parking. MELLWOOD SUBDIVISION Councilperson Wilson said a request has been made fora "No Trespassing"sign on Cardinal Lane and a "Block Watch" sign has been knocked down on Blue Teal Lane. Street Commissioner Hosea is to take care of these things. HALLOWEEN WALK Aquatics Director Kraft said there will be a Halloween Walk and animal costume contest on Saturday, October 25, 2008 to begin at the Overlook. Donations will benefit the Animal Shelter. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the Halloween Walk, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously. STOP SIGN REQUEST Roy Dennison who resides on Douglas Boulevard in East gate Subdivision requested a three way stop sign at Sherman Drive and Douglas Boulevard. He said there are many small children in the area and fears for their safety because of speeding cars.
