HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-10-2008• MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA SEPTEMBER 10, 2008 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Engineer Miller and Councilperson Wilson. Also present were: Asst. Fire Chief Grant, Chief of Staff Young, Planning and Zoning Direction Urban, Events Coordinator Knight, Building Commissioner Segraves, Street Commissioner Hosea, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Personnel Director Calabro, Parks Director Manor, Communications Director Thomas, Purchase Order Clerk Smith, Fire Chief Harrod, Planning and Zoning Director Robinson, Growth Coordinator Lovan, Assistant Police Chief Pavey, Police Chief Deeringer, Assistant Fire Chief Lee, Assistant Fire Chief Decker, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the minutes of 8-27-08 and 9-3-08 as presented, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. STREET CLOSURE Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve street closures on October 4, 2008 for the 4th Annual Fall Antique and Food Fest held by Sugar Maples and Perkfections Cafe from 6 am to 4 pm., seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. HIRING POLICE OFFICERS Engineer Miller made the motion to approve hiring three police officers, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. 3 ON 3 BASKETBALL TOURAMENT Engineer Miller made the motion to approve a street closure on Court Avenue between Spring and Wall Streets on Saturday, September 13, 2008, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. • ELEVATOR MAINTENANCE CONTRACT WITH ORACLE Engineer Miller made the motion to approve a service contract with Oracle for one year in the amount of $2,072.79, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. STOP SIGN AT TALL OAKS Resident Tommy Kanoy presented a petition in opposition to the newly erected stop sign on Tall Oaks. He said people don't obey the stop signs as is and didn't see the need for an additional sign. Mayor Galligan said different options are being looked into to try to improve the speeding problems through this subdivision. He said this subdivision is being used as a cut through which it was not designed for. He asked that everyone be patient while this problem is worked on. There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:00 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously.
