City Council Conference Room
The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville met in Special Session on Monday,
Tuesday, September 9, 2008. Council President Ed Zastawny called the meeting to order
at 5:45 P.M., and on call of [he roll those members present were: Councilpersons Ed
Zastawny, Ron Grooms, Barbara Wilsoq Connie Sellers, Mike Smith, and Nathan
Samuel Also present were Mayor Galligan, Deputy Clerk Treasurer Barbara Hollis, and
Chief Deputy Suzy Bass.
2009 Budgets
Council President Zastawny fumed the meeting over to Finance Committee Chairman
Ron Grooms. Budget binders were distributed. Councilperson Grooms said [he Finance
Committee has been meeting to organize and follow the budget process, working with
Director Bil] Mattingly and [he Clerk Treasurer's Office. No salary increases or 400
series have been included at this point There will be two sepaza[e appeals for excess
levies. Deputy Bass said Umbaugh does need an update. She also reminds the Council
there aze 53 weekly paydays in 2009. Mayor Galligan made requests for his budget. The
Clerk Treasurer's and Council budgets were discussed next.
Councilperson Fetz arrived at 7:00 P.M.
Discussion of the Council budget continued until 7:15 P.M. when a break was called.
The meeting resumed at 7:20 P.M. with Councilperson Smith reviewing the Police
budget followed by discussion.
Councilperson Sellers left at 8:10 P.M.
Councilperson Smith presented the Fire Department budget with discussion.
Councilperson Fetz lefr at 8:30 Y.M.
