Monday, September 8, 2008 - 6:30 P.M.
Mayor's Conference Room
Council President Ed Zastawny called the meeting to order at 6:45 P.M and on call of the
roll those members present were: Councilpersons Ed Zastawny, Ron Grooms, Bazbaza
Wilson, Connie Sellers, Mike Smith, Keith Fetz, and Nathan Samuel. Also present were
Mayor Tom Galligan and Chief Deputy Clerk Treasurer Suzy Bass.
The motion was made by Councilperson Samuel to approve the agenda as presented,
second by Councilperson Wilson, passing unanimously.
Fire Hydrant Ordinance
Planning Director Jim Urban and Fire Inspectors Jason Sharp and Mike McCutcheon
appeared before the Council with information concerning a proposed Hydrant Ordinance
that they would like to present to the Council in the near future. Director Urban said that
as the City grows, there is a need to ensure that there is enough water and pressure to
fight fires. The ordinance that will be proposed will be referenced in the Zoning
Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations so the Planning Department can enforce it.
Inspectors Sharp and McCutcheon said that the ordinance on the books now is outdated
and is in need of updating. This ordinance will affect existing buildings and residences as
well as new annexation buildings. The ordinance will be in compliance with State
Statutes according to the Planning and Zoning Attorney. Council President Zastawny
thanked them for their work on the ordinance and told them [o proceed with the
ordinance and present it to the Council.
The meeting adjourned at 6:55 P.M.
