Monday, September 15, 2008-6:30 P.M.
Mayor's Conference Room
Council President Ed Zastawny called the meeting to order at 5:30 P.M and on call of the
roll those members present were: Councilpersons Ed 2zstawny; Ron Grooms, Barbara
Wilson, Connie Sellers, MikeSmith, and Nathan Samuel. Also present were Mayor Tom
GaLLigan, 1" Deputy Clerk Treasurer Barbara Hollis, and Chief Deputy Clerk Treasurer
Suzy Bass. Councilperson Fetz arrived at 6:00 P.M.
The motion was made by Councilperson Samuel to approve theagenda as presented,
second by Councilperson Wilson, passing unanimously.
Budgets 2009
Councilperson Grooms suggested extending the budget timetable to October 31, 2008
because we still have not received our approved 2008 Budget. He feels this will give the
Council more time to finalize budgets and hopefully receive our budget order for the
current year. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to extend the budget adoption to
October 31, 200 second by Councilperson Sellers passing on a vote of 7-0. -
The Council agreed to the following timetable: Oct 6 -Public Heazing, Oct 20 - 2na
Publication of Hearing, October 27 -Adoption of Budget.
Discussion was also held on considering flat miles if the monies aze available. All
Councilpersons agreed to consider a flat raise for employees for 2009 instead ofa
percentage.
The Budget Committee discussed proposed ohanges to several budgets. No- official
action was taken.
The meeting recessed at 6:50 P.M. The meeting reconvened at 7:05 P.M.
Councilperson Grooms said that we may also ask far an extension for passing the salary
ordinance for 2009. The Clerk-Treasurer's Office will file for this extension if the
Council decides to do this.
The Council will meet Sept 22 at 6:30 for a works
