Resolution in Support of Community Planning Fund Application
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville has experienced a tragic disaster in the downtown
business district by virtue of the most recent fatal fire.
WHEREAS, Jeffersonville Main Street, Incorporated in its ongoing effort to re-vitalize
downtown Jeffersonville is desirous of applying for a Spring & Maple Street Redevelopment
Feasibility Study.
WHEREAS, the funding, which shall be provided in the form of a matching grant by the
Indiana Department of Commerce, will finance a three part study that will include development
options, market surveys, and contextual architectural schematics.
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville supports the efforts of
Jeffersonville Main Street Incorporated to determine the costs and benefits of rebuilding the four
buildings that were destroyed in a socially and economically devastating fire in Jeffersonville's
Downtown Historic Shopping District.
THEREFORE, BE IT SO RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF JEFFERSONVILLE THIS 3RD DAY OF APRIL, 1995.
