Council Conference Room 3b Floor Council President Ed Zastawny called the meeting to order at 6:30 P.M, and on call of the roll those members present were: Councilpersons Ed Zastawny, Ron Grooms, Barbara Wilson, Connie Sellers, Mike Smith, and Nathau Samuel and Keith Fetz. Also present were Clerk Treasurer Peggy Wilder and Chief Deputy Clerk Treasurer Suzy Bass Councilperson Samuel asked to add item#l0A Gayle Robinson and Councilperson Sellers asked to delete #8 Mindy Christian and add #10B discussion on Basketball Goal Ordinance to Che agenda. The motion was made by Councilperson Samuel to amend the agenda second by Councilperson Sellers and passed 7-0. First Responder Runs Fire Chief Tony Harrod and Assistant Chiefs Decker and I,ee appeared before the Council to discuss gas savings ideas. Chief Harrod said that they have looked into running a track out of station two for first responder runs They provided the Council with a list of reasons why this would not work. Councilperson Samuel thanked the Fixe Department for reseazching this and for their support in looking for gas savings ideas for the City. Fuel Conservation Initiatives Council President Zastawny provided the Council with some ideas for a proposed City vehicle purchase and fleet management ordinance. He provided a list of cars and trucks with at least a 24 MPG in the city for cazs and greater than 16 MPG for trucks. He asked fox the Councils' input. Councilperson Sellers voiced concern over not letting Police Officers take their cars home if they live outside the City limits because many times they can take runs on their way to work without having to come to the station first. Councilperson Samuel suggested allowing officers outside the City limits to pay a little more to have a take home car. Council President Zastawny said that be would put these ideas into ordinance form and present it at a future meeting. Tax Abatement update Redevelopment Director Gayle Robinson presented the Council with an updated list of tax abatements. He asked that the Council feel free to contact him with any questions or concerns. He wiLL continue to keep the Council informed on abatements. Basketball Ordinance Councilperson Sellers said that she feels the ordinance concerning basketball goals in the street needs to be amended to be stricter. The Building Commissioner's Office has received many complaints about children playing basketball in the streets and they can not enforce the ordinance in place at this time. After further discussion, the motion was made by Councilperson Fetz W discuss this ordinance at the meeting following this workshop, second by Councilperson Grooms, passing on a vote of 7-0. Clerk Treasurer Wilder presented the claim for Republic Bank to be paid. She told the Council that Deputy Bass researched the claims and has a breakdown of what has no[ been paid. Bass also met with Republic Bank who agreed to write off all the finance charges and late fees.
