HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-21-2008• MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MAY 21, 2005 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Engineer Miller and Comicilperson Wilson. Also present were: Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Building Commissioner Segraves, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Attorney Wilder, Personnel Director Calabro, Parks Director Manor, Receptionist Timberlake, Purchase Order Clerk Smith, Deputy Fire Chief Lee, Police Chief Deeringer, IT Director Hardy, Planning and Zoning Director Urban, Assistant Fire Chief Decker, Street Commissioner Hosea, Fire Chief Harrod, Asst. Fire Chief Grant, Asst. Police Chief Pavey, Sewer Office Manager Mattingly, Safety Director Lovaq Emergency Planner Christian, Redevelopment Director Robinson, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. NEW BUSINESS ROADBLOCK REQUEST Josh Boyd came before the Board to ask permission to hold a roadblock at Allison Lane and Tenth Street Mayor Galligan said no roadblocks are permitted due to liability issues. DOOR TO DOOR SALES Michael Winans of Texas State University asked the Boards permission to go door to door selling educational materials this summer from 9 am to 7 pm. Afrer discussion Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the door to door sales from 9 am to 7 pm, seconded by Engineer Miller and can-icd unanimously. SIGN REQUEST James Murphy appeared before the Board to request Speed Limit Signs or Children at P]ay signs on Spruce Drive. The police department will patrol the area and Mayor Galligan said 15 mph signs and Children at Play signs will be erected on Joy Street and Spruce Drive. DUKE ENERGY REQUEST • Engineer Miller said Duke Energy requested for Nelson. Tree Trimmers to use the city yard on Mechanic Street while they are tree trimming. Mayor Galligan said they can use the yard if they negotiate doing some work for the city. SIGN ON CARDINAL LANE Comroilperson Wilson asked if the sign has been erected on Cardinal Lane.
