HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-30-2008 • MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA JANUARY 30, 2008 In Mayor Galligan's absence Planning and Zoning Director Urban called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Engineer Miller and Councilperson Wilson. Also present were: Chief of Staff Young, EMC Plant Manager Meyer, Asst. Police Chief Pavey, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Building Commissioner Segraves, Street Commissioner Hosea, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Attorney Wilder, Personnel Director Calabro, Parks Director Manor, Receptionist Timberlake, Communications Director Thomas, Safety Director Trembly, Planning and Zoning Director Urban, Redevelopment Director Robinson, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. OLD BUSINESS . 1009 BRUNSWICK Engineer Miller said there is a resident of a house a[ 1009 Brunswick Drive that has never hooked into the sewers in 16 or 17 years. Attempts have been made to contact this resident by registered mail but no response has come. Attorney Darren Wilder said the Sewer Board aCCOrney will need to be contacted on this matter. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to table this until further notice, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS HOWARD STEAMBOAT MUSEUM SOT" ANNIVERSARY Yvonne Knight told the Board this year is the Howard Steamboat Museum's 50`h anniversary. She said there will be a 50's era theme as well as a postal cancellation. She said there will be a tent to honor other local businesses with 50 years. She hopes the Mayor will proclaim May 18`h as Howard Steamboat Museum Day. She requested that a section of High Street near Jeftboat be paved for the event and requests dumpstexs and porta cans. She would like to hang a banner promoting the event on Cour[ Avenue. After discussion, Engineer Miller made the motion to approve all requests except the porta cans, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. !, . . FRANKLIN COMMONS BANNERS Becca Christensen brought in a banner to show the Board what will be hung in Franklin Commons and asked who can hang fourteen of them. Engineer Miller said she needs to get written permission from Duke Energy to put the poles up first After permission is received from Duke Energy the Pazks Department will put the banners up. 318 MYRTLE STREET James Smith told the Board that there is a problem withjunk cars at 318 Myrtle Street, 418 Myrtle Street, and 210 Myrtle Street. Inspection visits have been made to 418 Myrtle Street and the vehicles were legally registered and one vehicle was on blocks which bad to be removed. The police will go out and check the Locations again Attorney Darren Wilder said if the vehicles are drivable and registered the city can't do anything. The police department and inspection department will continue to investigate and bring back to the Boazd if and when necessary. There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:30 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried . unanim~/o~Lusly. `MAYOR CLERK THE R
