AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDllVANC:E 2UU7-0R-63 THAT ESTABLISHED THE JEFFERSON MLLE COMMON
COUNCIL SPECIAL NON-REVERTING FUND FOR ANNEXATION COSTS INCURRED DURING 2008.
WHEREAS, IC 36-1-2-9(3) designates the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville as the Legislative Body of said city, and

power exists, and

incurred during 2008 for the ramping up of City services in preparation of certain mandated City services that must
begin effective January 1, 2009, and
WIfiEREAS, The Common Council of the City of .ietl~ersonville intends to transfer into a special non-reverting fund monies that
will be used to fund the aforementioned annexation costs for 2008 and/or 2009,

SECTION 1 The Jeffersonville Common Council Special Non-reverting Fund for annexation costs incurred during 2008 is hereby
created-
SECTION 2. Funds will be transferred into said Common council Special Non-reverting Fund from the COPS GRANT, the Non-
rever~ing Heaitl? insurance Fund, and anv otI€8r soazrcys of r~~enue tl?e Con?mon Cnu;?cif ma.}t deem ;tppropriaie:
SECTION 3. Any existing ordinance, or section(s) of existing ordinances that are in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
This ordinance shall be deemed adopted and in effect after passage by the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville and
approval by the Mayor of the City of Jeffersonville, or the timely override of his veto.

"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 2007-OR-63, AN ORDINANCE
ESTABLISHING THE JEFFERSONVILLE COMMON COUNCIL SPECIAL NON-
REVERTING FUND FOR ANNEXATION COSTS INCURRED DURING 2008
The Jeffersonville Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana,
meeting in Special Session on December 31, 2007 at 10:00 a.m.
moves to override the veto by the Mayor of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana of
Ordinance 2007-OR-87
"An Ordinance Establishing the Jeffersonville Common Council Special Non-Reverting Fund for
Annexation Costs during 2008".

JEFFERSONVILLE COMMON COUNCIL
SPECIAL NON-REVERTING FUND FOR
ANNEXATION COSTS INCURRED DURING 2008
STATEMENT OF REASONS
Comes now Robert L. Waiz, Jr., Mayor for the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and hereby
vetoes Ordinance No. 2007-OR-87 ("An Ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 2007-OR-63, That
Established the Jeffersonville Common Council Special Non-Reverting Fund for Annexation
Costs Incurred During 2008"), and in support states the following:
1. It is fiscally irresponsible for use funds appropriated for city employee health
insurance costs and law enforcement to fund annexation costs.
2. Transferring funds from the COPS grant may violate the terms of the grant and/or may
jeopardize the city's opportunity to obtain future grants for law
