HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-29-2007~ i ~ i; MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA AUGUST 29, 2007 Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members preser.~t were: City Engineer Miller and Councilperson Perkins. Also present were: Fire Chief Miles, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Planning and Zoning I>irector Hicks, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Building Commissioner Segraves, City Attorney Merkley, Street Commissioner Ellis,. Redevelopment Director Cahill, IT Director Hardy, Councilperson Wilson, Asst. Police Chief Lovan, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Councilperson Perkins made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. ~'~ ~ Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 8-8-07, 8-15-07, and 8-22-07 as presented, seconded by Councilperson Perkins and carried unanimously. OLD BUSINESS- BRIGHTON AVE. STREET LIGHT- Engineer Miller said he looked at the location and there is already a street light in front of the house. He does not recommend one for the rear'of the house. FIRE STATION UPDATE- Heather Graninger gave an update on progress at the Fire Stations and City Services Complex. She said the additional electrical items needed amount to $4,771.10. The Board told her to proceed with the electrical work. She said preparations are being made for installing the generators. This work will be $16,011.35. Councilperson Perkins made the motion to approve the Change Order for the Generator work, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. ,. i --__ ~ RENFRO DRIVE LIGHTING- Engineer Miller presented the payment plan from Duke Energy for six lights. The cost will be $12,567.49. Councilperson Perkins said he will check the Council budget for the money. After some discussion Councilperson Perkins made the motion to approve paying the lump sum of $12,567.49, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried. unanimously. ACCOUNTS PAYABLE VOUCHER FOR FIRE STATIONS- Councilperson Perkins made the motion to approve the Accounts Payable Voucher for the Fire Stations and City Services Complex in the amount of $10,156.66, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. STREET CLOSURE- Diane Kircher came before the Board to request approval to close Maple Street at Spring Street on Saturday, October 20, 2007 from 7 am to 5 pm for a tailgate street fair. Antique booths will be set up. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the request, seconded by Councilperson Perkins and carried unanimously. ,~ -~, ~ WOOD ALLEY- ,-~--. Councilperson Perkins said he had a request for a street light in the 900 block of Wood alley between 7th and 8th Streets. Engineer Miller said he would check the location. KENNEDY BRIDGE PAINTING NOISE- Councilperson Perkins made the motion to have the bridge painting continue with work stopping at 8 pm each night and with the understanding that some noise will be made, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. CHESTNUT STREET ALLEY- Engineer Miller said the posts in the alley are going to be pulled in order for a dumpster to be put in for cleanup.
