HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-26-2007MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA SEPTEMBER 26, 2007 Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Councilperson Perkins and Engineer Miller. Also present were: Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Personnel Director Calabro, Street Commissioner Ellis, Fire Chief Miles, Building- Commissioner Segraves, Assistant Police Chief Lovan, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Redevelopment Director Cahill, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Councilperson Perkins made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. OLD BUSINESS TENTH STREET TRAFFIC SIGNAL Engineer Miller made the motion to approve accepting the bid of the Drew Company for the Tenth Street Traffic Signal in the amount of $13;7,850.97, seconded by Councilperson Perkins and carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS FIRE STATION UPDATE Heather Graninger gave an update on progress at the Fire Stations and City Services Complex. She said additional data wiring and conduit needs to be run at a cost of $3,058.40. Councilperson Perkins made the motion to approve the data, wiring, and conduit in the amount of $3,058.40, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. Councilperson Perkins made the motion to approve a claim to Isgrigg and Associates in the amount of $1,108.00 for engineering work on the drainage easement pertaining to the Fire Stations, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. Councilperson Perkins made the motion to approve claims to Kovert Hawkins for work performed on the Fire Stations and City Services Complex in the amount of $8,54.67, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. TRAFFIC CONTROL AT INDUSTRIAL NIGHTMARE Terry Campbell proposed a plan to help traffic control at Industrial Nightmare by closing a portion of Eighth Street between Michigan and Ohio Avenue between 5:00 pm and 1:00 am Thursday through Sunday. Councilperson Perkins made the motion to table this for further discussion, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. CURB PAINTING AT MAPLE ELEMENTARY Mike Marra with Greater Clark County Schools asked permission to paint the sidewalk curbs in safety yellow to define a "no parking'' zone along the front of the school. The paint and labor will be supplied by Greater Clark County Schools. Councilperson Perkins made the motion to approve the request, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:0 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Perkins and carried ATT T: ~..
