4 FOR THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE
5 STATE OF INDIANA

7 AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE
8 JEFFERSONVILLE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
9
10 WHEREAS, in June 2005, the Comprehensive Plan Task Force was
11 created to update the Jeffersonville Comprehensive Plan; and
12
13 WHEREAS, the current Comprehensive Plan was last done in 1991
14 with a time horizon of 2010, three years from now; and
15
16 WHEREAS, this Comprehensive Plan has a time horizon of the year
17 2030, which corresponds to the KIPDA Horizon 2030 Transportation Plan for
18 the Louisville Metropolitan Region; and
19
20 WHEREAS, the City has changed its borders several times since 1991
21 and is expected to change its borders again, effective January 1, 2008; and
22
23 WHEREAS, Land Use, Transportation, and Infrastructure needs must
24 have better coordination in order to ensure the community's social, cultural,
25 and economic prosperity; and
26
27 WHEREAS, for the first time, a vision of our community's future is
28 articulated, in the form of a Vision Statement, through this planning document;
29 and
30
31 WHEREAS, the Vision Statement is followed with a series of Goals,
32 Objectives and Policy Recommendations; and
33
34 WHEREAS, this new plan recommends the creation of Planning
35 Districts, where the form and character of the surrounding area must be taken
36 into account when considering new development or redevelopment; and
37
38 WHEREAS, vacant lands, farms, and conservation areas, as well as
39 areas that could be targeted for redevelopment have been identified through
40 the Future Land Use Map; and

WHEREAS, The Comprehensive Plan recommends an update every 5
years; and
WHEREAS, the Council believes it is in the best interest of the citizens
and taxpayers of the City that the City have a current Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Jeffersonville Plan Commission met on September 25,
2007 and recommended that the Jeffersonville City Council adopt the
Comprehensive Plan; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY ORDIANED by the
Council it hereby adopts the Comprehensive Plan (a copy of which is attached
as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein); and
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage
and approval.
