HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-12-2007MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA SEPTEMBER 12, 2007 Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: City Engineer Miller and Councilperson Perkins. "Also present were: Fire Chief Miles, IT Director Hardy, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Building Commissioner Segraves, City Attorney Merkley, Personnel Director Calabro, Street Commissioner 'Ellis, Councilperson Wilson, Planning and Zoning Director Hicks, Redevelopment Director Cahill, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Councilperson Perkins and carried unanimously. Councilperson Perkins made the motion to approve the minutes of 8-29-07 as presented, seconded by Engineer Miller and .carried unanimously. OLD BUSINESS STREET LIGHT REQUEST Councilperson Perkins said he doesn't see a need for a light on Wood Avenue. City Engineer Miller will check it out. NEW BUSINESS FIRE STATION UPDATE '' Heather Graninger gave an update on progress at the Fire Stations and City Services Complex. She asked whether the Salt Barn bid had been awarded. Councilperson Perkins said it has not and asked that she bring the bids to the next Council workshop. . i DAMAGE TO AUTO Cathy Robinson returned to the Board in regard to damage to her car when she hit an uncovered manhole. Councilperson Perkins said the police officer he spoke with said the manhole cover wasn't off when they appeared at the scene. Engineer Miller said the city's insurance denied the claim. City Attorney Merkley said the City is not liable., Councilperson Perkins made the motion to deny payment of her claim in the amount of $317.71, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. BANNER-PROVIDENCE HIGH SCHOOL Dave Smith asked the Board's permission to put up a banner for the school's open house. Councilperson Perkins made the motion to approve the hanging of the banner at Mulberry and Court Avenue, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried. unanimously.. NICOLE STATION STREET LIGHTS Councilperson Perkins made the motion to approve installing street lights at Nicole Station, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. AMENDMENT Engineer Miller made the motion to approve amending the specifications in the ordinance for Lift Stations, seconded by Councilperson Perkins and carried unanimously. STREET DESIGNATION Councilperson Perkins made the motion to designate Aldridge Lane, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. COMMISSIONER OF THE YEAR Councilperson Perkins congratulated Street Commissioner Ellis for receiving the Street Commissioner of the Year award from the Indiana Association of Street Commissioners. Councilperson Perkins said he has talked to Jeanne Burke about markers on Riverside Drive. He said audio visual people will be working around the city this week. t t 'PLAQUE PRESENTATION Councilperson Wilson presented a plaque to the Mayor from the Indiana Association of Street Commissioners. There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Engineer Miller made the 'motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:20 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Perkins and carried '.unanimously.
