HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-11-2007~~ MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA JULY 11, 2007 'Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: 'Fire Chief Miles sitting in for Councilperson Perkins and Engineer Miller. Councilperson Perkins 'arrived at 9:33 am. 'Also present were: IT Director Hardy, Assistant Police Chief Lovan, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, .Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Building Commissioner Segraves, City Attorney Merkley, Parks Director Poff, Personnel Director Calabro, Street Commissioner Ellis, Planning and Zoning Director Hicks, Redevelopment Director Cahill, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Fire Chief Miles and '.carried unanimously. j ~ WORKERS COMPENSATION RENEWAL- Steve Leist with Maverick Insurance appeared before the Board with Workers Comp quotes. The lowest quote is from IPEP in the amount of $169,430.00. Engineer Miller made the 'motion to approve the quote from IPEP, seconded by Fire Chief Miles and carried ';unanimously. 'COUNTRY CLUB ESTATES- 'Engineer Miller made the motion to accept the streets in Country Club Estates into the City, "seconded by Councilperson Perkins and carried unanimously. i FIRE STATION UPDATE- Heather Graninger gave an update on progress at the new fire stations and city services complex. She met with Street Commissioner Ellis on putting the salt barn out for bids. ~I I EDWARDS HOUSE MOVERS-316 W. RIVERSIDE DRIVE ~; Stephen Edwards asked the Board's approval. to move a house from 316 W. Riverside Drive to 212 W. Riverside Drive for Lonnie Cooper. Mayor Waiz made the motion to approve the move, seconded by Councilperson Perkins and carried unanimously. UNSAFE BUILDING AT 104 MARY STREET Building Commissioner Segraves recommended giving Ronnie Lightfoot 30 days to tear down the structure at 104 Mary Street. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve giving him 30 days to demolish the structure, and seconded by Councilperson Perkins with the stipulation that if he doesn't get it torn down in that time frame the city will tear it down and bill Mr. Lightfoot. SHIRLEY HALL PARK AND WARDER PARK RESTROOMS Councilperson Perkins made the motion to approve the proposals for the restrooms at Shirley Hall Park and Warder Park, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. Warder Park $10,000.00 and Shirley Hall Park $12,000.00. `~~ TRIATHLON Councilperson Perkins made the motion to approve the street closings for the Kids Triathlon as requested by Parks Director Poff, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. FOUR WAY STOP REQUEST Mayor Waiz said Shirley Homm sent a written request fora 4-way stop sign at 9th Street and Mechanic Street. Assistant Police Chief Lovan recommended the 4-way stop sign. Councilperson Perkins made the motion to approve the request, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. PAINT IN GARBAGE CANS City Attorney Merkley said two residents have requested reimbursement for paint removal from their cars as a result of someone putting cans of paint in their trash which was then picked up by the sanitation department. Thee... claims are for $150.00 each. After some discussion, Councilperson Perkins made the motion to deny the claims, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. FIRE PERFORMER CONTRACT ~ ~ Councilperson Perkins made the motion to approve the contract with Pandora's Matchbox LLC Performer for July 21, 2007, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. ROCK SPILL 'John Hamm came before the Board in regard to rock spills that occur from time to time. He 'said his company has nothing to do with the spills. He asked that in the future the city notify him so he can help identify the owner of the truck who is responsible for clean up. There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Councilperson Perkins made the 'motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:20 a.m., seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. ``~ ATTEST: CLER EASURER
