HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-27-2007F THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES O OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA JUNE 27, 2007 Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: City Engineer Miller and Fire Chief Miles sitting in for Councilperson Perkins. Also present were: Fire Chief Miles, Asst. Police Chief Lovan, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Building Commissioner Segraves, Councilperson Wilson, Clerk Treasurer Wilder, Purchase Order Clerk Blair, Assistant Fire Chief Decker, Personnel Director Calabro, IT Director Hardy, Fireman Dierking, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Fire Chief Miles and carried unanimously. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the claims as presented, seconded by Fire Chief Miles and carried unanimously. • FIRE STATION UPDATE Heather Graninger gave an update on the Fire Stations. She told Engineer Miller she needs a schedule on the traffic light. She also inquired about the bid for water and sewer line extensions. Miller said the bids will go out in a couple of weeks. BID OPENING FOR FIRE TRUCK Clerk Treasurer Wilder opened a bid from Pierce Manufacturing Inc. in the amount of $465,800.00. The bid bond was included. Engineer Miller made the motion to take the bid under advisement, seconded by Fire Chief Miles and carried unanimously. RESIDENT ONLY PARKING AT 418 E. MARKET STREET Kathy Mundy requested a resident only parking sign in front of her residence at 418 E. Market Street. The police will check the location. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the resident only sign pending police approval, seconded by Fire Chief Miles and carried unanimously. C ANIMAL CONTROL VIOLATION- 721 E. SEVENTH Animal Shelter Animal Control Officer Wright told the Board he received a complaint in regard to Mary Montgomery of 721 E. Seventh Street having too many animals. Ms. Montgomery said she has 13 puppies and she doesn't want to get rid of them. The ordinance states that no more than four animals are allowed. Councilperson Wilson said we have to abide by the ordinance. It was suggested that she go before the Board of Zoning Appeals and try to obtain a kennel license. After some discussion, Fire Chief Miles made the motion that she go before the Board of Zoning Appeals on this matter, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. SIDEWALK AT 212 WALNUT STREET Cheryl Morrow of 212 Walnut Street said the sidewalk has popped up due to two trees that need to be removed. She said a woman tripped on the sidewalk and fell and was seriously injured. After discussion, Mayor Waiz said the street department would go out and check the location and take care of the problem. PHONE CONTRACTS IT Director Hard told the Board that the warrant on the h Y y pone contracts has expired. He has obtained two prices. Engineer Miller made the motion to review the prices, seconded by Fire Chief Miles and carried unanimously. UNSAFE BUILDING AT 315 MYRTLE STREET Building Commissioner said he sent a certified letter to Mr. James Hack in regard to the unsafe building at 315 Myrtle Street. He said Mr. Hack is cooperating and has obtained a demolition permit. Building Commissioner ask that Mr. Hack be given a 30 day extension to demolish the building. Engineer Miller made the motion to give a 30 day extension, seconded by Fire Chief Miles and carried unanimously. MOVING OF PUMPS Clerk Treasurer Wilder told the Board she has spoken with Makowsky Oil about moving the pumps over to the new building when ready. There being no further discussion to come before the Board, City Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:30 a.m., seconded by Fire Chief Miles and carried unanimously.
