HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-R-06RESOLUTION NO. 96-R-~ A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING CERTAIN AREAS WITH,THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA, AS "ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TARGET AREA" WHEREAS, it has been requested that a certain area within the city of Jeffersonville, Indiana, be designated as an economic development target area pursuant to Indiana Code I.C. 6-1.1-12.1- 3(e) (10); and, WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana, recognizes the need to stimulate growth and to maintain a sound economy within the city of Jeffersonville; and, WHEREAS, this specific area of the City has been vacant for 30 years for normal development, because character of the specified lot, age, location, and restricted development area, or other factors which have impaired values or prevented a normal development of property or use of property; and, WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville recognizes that incentives to local development in these under- utilized or distressed areas would be in the city's best interest; and, WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville further recognizes that it would be beneficial to designate a certain qualified area within the City as an economic development target area for purposes of considering deductions against the assessed value of property for real property tax purposes; and, WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City is vested with the authority to designate certain areas of the City to be economic development target areas; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council, of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana that: The following area be declared and designated as an economic revitalization area: That part of Lot No. 232 in the city of Jeffersonville as described as follows: Beginning at Southwest corner of said Lot 232; thence Northwardly with the East line of Wall Street 60 feet; thence Eastwardly on a line parallel with the South line of said Lot 232, 60 feet; thence Southwardly on a line parallel with the West line of said lot 60 feet to the North line of Maple Street; thence Westwardly with the North line of Maple Street 60 feet to the place of beginning. Pursuant to the provisions of Indiana law, this area is hereby designated by the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville as an Economic Development Target Area. ' CLERK-TREASURE~ Approved and signed by me this . , 1996. ~YOR THO~S GALLIG~ JEFFERSONVILLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the ("the Commission") WHEREAS, for Jeffersonville Economic Development Commission met on January 16, 1996, at 8:00 A. M.; and the purpose of obtaining a tax abatement, pursuant to I.C. 6-1.1-12.1-3(e) (10), Jerry Ramser, the owner of the Wall Street Cafe, has requested that the parcel upon which he proposes to construct a new Wall Street Cafe be designated an economic development target area; and WHEREAS, at its January 16, 1996'meeting the Commission heard evidence concerning the parcel located at the northeast corner of Wall and Maple Streets; and WHERE~S, based upon the evidence heard, the Commission found that the subject parcel has been undeveloped for in excess of twenty (20) years, and has become undesirable for normal development and occupancy. NOW, THEREFORE, the Commission hereby recommends that the Jeffersonville City Council by ordinance designate the parcel located at the northeast corner of Wall and Maple Streets an economic development target area pursuant to I.C. 6-1.1-12.1-7.
