AN ORDINANCE REDEFINING HEALTH INSLrRANCE BENEFITS FOR RETIREES
OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE
The Co~m~on Council of the City of Jeffersonville desires to
redefine the health insurance benefits for retired city
employees, and
WHEREAS, The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville considers it
important to provide better health insurance benefits to
those faithful employees who have served with dedication,
NOW, THEREFORE LET IT BE ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
JEFFERSONVILLE:
SECTION 1:
This ordinance shall pertain only to those employees who have retired
with twenty or more years of service, or have been granted disability
retirement due to a job related illness or injury.
SECTION 2:
Retired city employees who meet the qualifications of section 1 of this
ordinance shall be entitled to the same health insurance benefits as a
full-time city employee until said retiree becomes eligible for
medicare or medicaid.
SECTION 3:
Any retired employee that is eligible, or becomes eligible for health
insurance by another employer, or spouses employer, at or near the same
level of coverage, for or near t~%e same cost as city insurance, shall
not be entitled to this insuranc~ benefit. Questions of eligibility
shall be determined by the city agent of record.
