Equal Employment Opportunit~ Policy
This City of Jeffersonville, Indiana (hereinafter Jeffersonville) is an Equal Opporturdty
Employer. It is the policy of Jeffersonville to provide equal employment opportunity to

The City of Jeffersonville Prevention of Harassment Policy,
The City of Jeffersonville, Indiana (hereinafter Jeffersonville) is committed to providing a
workplace free of sexual harassment, intimidation, threats, coercion or discrimination (which
includes harassment based on gender, pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions) as
well as harassment, intimidation, threats, coemion or discrimination based on such factors as race,
color, religion, national origin, ancestry, age, physical or mental disability, medical condition,
marital status, sex, sexual orientation, family care leave status or veteran status. Jeffersonville
strongly disapproves of and will not tolerate harassment of employees by management,
coworkers, consultants, contractors, suppliers or citizens. Similarly, Jeffersonville will not
tolerate harassment by its employees of non-employees or citizens with whom Jeffersonville
Harassment includes verbal, physical, and visual conduct that creates an intimidating, offensive
or hostile working environment or that interferes with work performance. Such conduct
constitutes harassment when (1) submission to the conduct is made either an explicit or implicit
condition of employment; (2) submission to or rejection of the conduct is used as the basis for an
employment decision; or (3) the harassment interferes with an employee's work performance or
creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive work environment.
Sexually harassing conduct in particular includes all of these prohibited actions as well as other
unwelcome conduct such as requests for sexual favors, conversation containing sexual comments
and unwelcome sexual advances.
Sexual harassment is usually not involved in normal, friendly workplace interactions as long as
no reasonable person is offended. Whether or not certain other conduct constitutes sexual
harassment may depend upon how the employee who is subjected to that conduct views it. The
employee who initiates or persists in the conduct assumes the risk and the possible penalties, even
if the conduct might not have been intended as offensive.
Any employee who feels that he or she has been harassed or discriminated against at work by
anyone, including management, coworkers, clients or visitors should immediately make it clear to
the offender that he or she finds such behavior offensive.
Employees are responsible to report any incident of harassment by any Jeffersonville personnel or
any other person, promptly to your supervisor, manager, or any member of management and/or to
the Jeffersonville Human Rasoumes Director, Kim Calabro, (812) 285-6405, who is responsible
for investigating the matter. Management who receive complaints or who observe harassing
conduct should take immediate action to stop such conduct and inform upper management.
