MINUTES OF MEETZNG- AUGUST 08, 2005
The meeting was called to order at 12:05pm. The roll was called and those in attendance
were os follows: Akick Hennegon, Ted Throckmorton, Sue Pfou, Kevin LoGronge, and ¥icki
¢onlin. Absent' ,Tohn Young.
Personnel and guests present were os follows' Superintendent Eob Poff, Assistant
Superintendent geverly ¢outs, Aquotic/~¢creotion Director Sara Kraft, Outreach
birector Justin Campbell, City Council membe~ Barbara Wilson, and Evenin9 News Edito~
Lorry Thomas. All other guests present will be recognized os they address the board.

Old Business:
Superintendent ~ob Poff updated the board on the Ewin~ L~ne/Noch~nd Fieldhouse
property transfer proposal. He stated after discussions with our City Attorney and
Sandy Lewis, Attorney for Greater Clark Schools that the requested trade will work out.
He also needs to get approval from the Board of Public Works, os well os, attend o School
I~oord meeting tomorrow night to make the request but oll is expected to go well. He
reminded that the trade is the old Ewin9 Lone pool house for o partial land transfer at
the Nachand Fieldhouse. He informed that we ore starting process to get out of the
current lease agreement on the 'Wilson property. At this time Rob handed out copies of
the layout for the football fields ~t Shirley H~II Park (~ka' Thomas ,lefferson). He noted
the boundary lines and stated that Youth Football League is moving the
concession~storage building to be on Porks property verses the leased property. He
stated that work on the walking track would start soon. It is estimated to be 4 foot wide
and less than ½ mile long. He has more update on the football complex, in his
5uperintendent's report.
New Business:

~ei:~ Aquatic Center Report'
Aquatic/Recreation Director Sara Kraft handed out the ~uly 2005 report for review.
.She sha~ed pictures of thei~ Christmas in ~uly event ~escheduled on ~uly 23~d. 5he
info,mad that it w~s ~ very successful event and enjoyed by all at the pool. She also
info,mad that ou~ next Outdoor ~ovie is scheduled ~t the pool this F~iday, August 1~th
.~,h admission being ~ canned good that will be given to Cente~ fo~ Lay Ministries.
Claims:
The claims fop ,Tuly 2005 were distributed fo~ ~eview and app~owl. Afte~ some
discussion a motion was made by Vicki Conlin to approve claims as distributed, seconded
by ,Sue Pfau, ca~ied unanimously.
Correspondence'
Rob spoke about the 2005 Senior Games end shared some pictures from the events held
et the Nachand Fieldhouse.
Two thank you notes were reed from the followin9' Cherry Hill Neighborhood, end
Steamboat ~useum/Victori~ Chautauqua.
Letter wes reed from Peggy Wilder with the Auction Committee for the Catholic
Community of Sacred Heart. They ore requesting o donation of 2-hour rental at the
Nochond Fieldhouse for their second °nnuol Taste of Sacred Heart. Rob explained that
this has been on annual donation to Sacred Heart.
Letter was read from ,Tason Smith, Chairperson for ~Tohn B. Houghton, ,Tr. Memorial
Committee. They are requesting fees waived for use of the Colston Softball on ~Tuly 16th
and 17th. Rob informed this is an annual request and noted the scholarships, and
donations to ~Teff/~RC Little League that they make with their proceeds from this
tournament.
Letter was read from Tracey Cobb, Co-Chairperson for Women's Day 2005 at 'Wesley
United Methodist Church. They are requesting tO one-day passes to the pool for their
auction.
Superintendent's Report:
Rob discussed the following'
1 We received ~ $25,000 grant from WHA5 Crusade for Children. He showed
the bo~rd Freedom Fields proposal.
2 The lease for the Boys and Girls Club is expiring soon and will need to be
renewed. He will have more information ~t the next meeting.
3 Update on Youth Football complex. Need to run utilities this week.
Scoreboards and goal posts will be set this w~¢k or next. The concession
building hit a snag and will be built throughout the season. Youth Football will
/
use their portable conC~ssion trailer.
4 The w~t~r line ~t project ~t Vissing Park will start this w~ek. :t w~s d~layed to
figure out the hydrant situation.
,5 Sam Vogt has ordered the monument for S. Horlon ¥ogt Pork. ~[t will toke 10-1;~
weeks to come in. Then it will toke another 4 weeks to finish the plaque.
6 Rob introduced the new Outreach Director Justin Campbell to the board.
7 He informed thot budget sessions ore up-coming for 2:006. Several Board
members showed inter~st in attending. Rob informed that he would welcome
them.
8 We ore starting the garage building et M¢ijer Littl~ League Pork ~t th¢ end of
this month.
c) The access road to Lensden Park is going to be paved this week and construction
~t the park will be don~ et the end of this month.
tO Our Maintenance Crew will be working with other City Deportments every third
Tuesday of the month for City Beautification.
