HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-20-2006 " MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA SEPTEMBER 20, 2006 Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call ofthe roll those members present were: City Engineer Miller and Councilperson McCauley. Also present were: Fire Chief Miles, Assistant Police Chief Lovan, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Building Commissioner Segraves, City Attorney Merkley, Personnel Director Calabro, Wastewater Treatment Director Crawford, Redevelopment Director Cahill, Street Commissioner Ellis, IT Director Hardy, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 8-30-06, 9-6-06, and 9-13-06 as presented, seconded by Councilperson McCauley and carried unanimously. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Councilperson McCauley and carried unanimously. r\ f" RESIDENT ONLY PARKING Robin Smith who resides at 643 Main Street asked the Board to approve a Resident Only parking sign for her. She said she has difficulty finding a place to park near her residence. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve a Resident Only parking sign pending police approval, seconded by Councilperson McCauley and carried unanimously. UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN Pam Clark representing United Way talked about the programs and services that United Way provides. She said she would be making presentations to~the individual departments. She said for every dollar that is donated Humana will match it. RESOLUTION 2006-R-6 Councilperson McCauley made the motion to approve Resolution #6 Conveying a Parcel of Real Estate by Deed to Serenity House, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. '" BEGGARS NIGHT Engineer Miller made the motion to approve Tuesday, October 31, 2006 as Beggars Night from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, seconded by Councilperson McCauley and carried unanimously. HARBOURS Cindy Richards representing The Harbours appeared before the Board to ask that ten trees be taken out ofthe public easement and relocated onto The Harbours property. They will be working with Bob Miller in getting the sidewalks out and will have the Harbours contractor get the root systems out. The Harbours will then maintain the relocated trees. Councilperson McCauley made the motion to approve the removal and planting of the trees, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. There being no further discussion to come before the Board, City Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:00 a.m., seconded by Councilperson McCauley and carried unanimously.
