HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-05-2005MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA OCTOBER 5, 2005 Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Councilperson Sellers and Building Commissioner Segraves sitting in for City Engineer Miller. Also present were: Street Commissioner Ellis, Fire Chief Miles, Asst. Police Chief Lovan, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Vehicle Maintenance Director Dmry, Building Commissioner Segraves, City Attorney Merkley, Planning and Zoning Director Hicks, Parks Director Poff, Personnel Director Calabro, Redevelopment Director Cahill, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the minutes of 9-28-05, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously. NEW BUSiNESS ROAD CUT Tom Galligan appeared before the Board to request permission to do a road cut on October 10, 2005 at 2103 Woodland Court. He said it will take about a day and the road will not be totally closed. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the road cut, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carded unanimously. GREATER CLARK SCHOOLS AGREEMENT The Board tabled this until next week. POLICE HIRE Assistant Police Chief Lovan asked the Board to approve hiring Richard Ashabranner III. Assistant Chief Lovan said Mr. Ashabranner has passed all tests. Mayor Waiz made the motion to approve hiring Richard Ashabrarmer III, and seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves. Councilperson Sellers voted in opposition. E AND H CONSTRUCTION Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve Pay Request #3 in the amount of $234,876.00 for the City Hall Renovation, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously. HANDICAPPED PARKING Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve a handicapped parking sign at 816 Fulton Street pending police approval, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously. ~/~- ACCEPTANCE OF PROPOSAL WITH ESTOPINAL GROUP Building Commissioner Segraves made the motion to approve the Acceptance of Proposal with the Estopinal Group for artwork, furniture, and signage at the new City Hall, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously. COMMENTS: Fire Chief Miles said Fire Prevention Week is coming up and reminded everyone of fire safety. Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury reminded the department heads he still needs fuel money. Parks Director Poff passed out Halloween flyers to department heads. Personnel Director Calabro asked department heads to set time aside for United Way presentations. City Attorney Merkley said a report has to be filed with the Department of Justice by October 14, 2005 on ADA improvements that have been completed. Photos of the improvements must accompany the report. Planning and Zoning Director Hicks asked if more money would be put into the budget for fuel next year. Councilperson Sellers said it has been. There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Councilperson Sellers made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:00 a.m., seconded by Building Commissioner Sellers and carried unanimously.
