OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
JUNE 8, 2005
Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were'
Councilperson Sellers and Building CommisSioner Segraves sitting in for City Engineer Miller.
Also present were' Fire Chief Miles, Police Chief Ashabranner, Inspector Lanum, Street Commissioner'
Ellis, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Parks Director Poff, Vehicle Maintenance Director Dmry,
Planning and Zoning Director Hicks, Computer Technician Davis, Wastewater Treatment Director
Crawford, Personnel Director Calabro, Redevelopment Director Cahill, City Attorney Merkley and
Deputy Clerk Mayfield.
Building Commissioner Segraves made the motion to approve the minutes of 5-25-05 and 6-01-05,
seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS
VENDOR PERMIT
David Deatrick asked to renew his vendor permit to sell hot dogs and cokes in front of the
Courthouse. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the vendor permit, seconded
by Building Commissioner Segraves and carded unanimously.
CITY HALL BIDS
KyleWilson with the Estopinal Group appeared before the Board to report that the top four
bidders on the new city hall have agreed to extend their bids to July 12, 2005. Councilperson
Sellers made the motion to approve extending the bids until July 12, 2005, seconded by
Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously.
NO OUTLET SIGN
Inspector Lanum requested a "No Outlet" sign in Kingsfield Subdivision. Councilperson
Sellers made the motion to approve the "No Outlet" sign, seconded by Building
Commissioner Segraves and carded unanimously.
COMMENTS'
Computer Technician Davis said he and Mayor Waiz have looked at a web site module and
are getting a quote and payment options. He asked what departments could benefit from it.
Redevelopment Director Cahill said Kathy Haller is now being paid hourly and asked that the
departments keep this in mind when calling her.
Animal Shelter Director Wilder said the Golf Scramble is scheduled for July 18, 2005.
Councilperson Wilson reminded everyone that JeffFest is Saturday, June 11, 2005. She said
the Animal Shelter will have some animals there and Harry Wilder will have his ice cream
machine there with proceeds going to the Animal Shelter.
Parks Director Poff said the RiverStage show was great last weekend and had a good turn out.
He thanked the police department for their help.
Police Chief Ashabranner said his officers said the RiverStage Show was great and that the
crowd was very well behaved.
Personnel Director Calabro said the Riverbats game is scheduled for Friday, July 8, 2005.
She needs to know the number of people who will be attending so she can get the tickets.
Mayor Waiz said he needs more information from the department heads for insurance
purposes.
Personnel Director Calabro said an insurance agent would be meeting with each department
to make sure everything is covered.
Councilperson Wilson said money was given for another "Welcome To Jeff" sign at the City
Pride meeting.
There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by Councilperson
Sellers to adjourn at 10'00 a.m., seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carded
unanimously. ·
