OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
APRIL 20, 2005
Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9'30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were:
Building Commissioner Segraves sitting in for Councilperson Sellers and City Engineer Miller.
Also present were: Fire Chief Miles, Police Chief Ashabranner, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Parks
Director Poff, Vehicle Maintenance Director Dmry, Planning and Zoning Director Hicks, Computer
Technician Davis, Personnel Director calabro, 'Redevelopment Director Cahill, City Attorney Merkley
and Deputy Clerk Mayfield.
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Building Commissioner
Segraves and carded unanimously.
Building Commissioner Segraves made the motion to approve the minutes of 4-1.3-05,
seconded by City Engineer Miller and carded unanimously.
City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the claims as presented, seconded by
Building Commissioner Segraves and carded unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS
3 ON 3 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
Parks Director Poff said a 3 On 3 Basketball Tournament would be held on Friday, April 29,
2005 from 4-8 pm and on Saturday, April 30, 2005 from 7 am. To 8 pm. He requested that
Court Avenue between Mechanic Street and Meigs Avenue be closed. Engineer Miller made
the motion to approve the street closings, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and
carded unanimously.
RESIDENT ONLY PARKING
Engineer Miller made the motion to deny Resident Only parking at 1306 E. 9th Street,
seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carded unanimously. The resident did not
appear before the Board.
CITATION
Planning and Zoning DireCtor Hicks cited Robert and Karcn Brookins of 1321 Charlestown
Pike for an inoperable car at their residence. Notices have been sent since' November. After
one verbal conversation, an extension was granted but the car wasn't removed. Mayor Waiz
asked that a police officer deliver the notice since the certified notice was never signed for
and sent back. Building Commissioner ScgraVes made the motion to table until next week,
seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
COMMENTS'
Fire Chief Miles asked about fuel removal in emergency situations. Mayor Waiz said he
would make some phone calls.
Fire Chief Miles said his men did a good job as well as the police department on the house
fire recently.
Fire Chief Miles thanked everyone for supporting the charity basketball game.
Louis Galligan asked permission to replace two CDL drivers. Engineer Miller made the
motion to approve replacing two CDL drivers, seconded by Building Commissioner Scgraves
and carried unanimously. He also asked that the fire dept. wash down the lot by the Ramada.
Vehicle Maintenance DirectOr Dmry said the contract with PetrOleum Traders states that they
will provide emergency service to the Fire Department.
Mayor Waiz said vehicle lists need to be back in to Personnel Director Calabro soon.
Parks Director Poff thanked the police department for the truck.
Parks Director Poff introduced Sara Kraft, the new Aquatics Director.
Personnel Director Calabro said she would be meeting Dr. M¢Clain of Employee Care on
Friday, April 22, 2005 at 2'00 pm.
Personnel Director Calabro thanked Ron Ellis and Rob Poff for allowing the CDL driver to
return to work at the Parks Dept. temporarily.
Personnel Director Calabro handed out information on "Lunch and Learn".
Personnel Director Calabro thanked everyone for the food for Dare To Care.
Police Chief Ashabranner said all 55 police employees would be working on Thunder day.
He said Lt. Garry Pavcy has put a lot of hard work into planning for Thunder.
Mayor Waiz invited all city employees to stop
Drinks and food will be provided.
by 228 W. Riverside Drive on Thunder day.
There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by City Engineer
a.m., seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carded unanimously.
