HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-02-2005MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA FEBRUARY 02, 2005 Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Councilperson Sellers and Building Commissioner Segraves. Also present were: Fire Chief Miles, Police Chief Ashabrarmer, Parks Director Poff, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Street Department Director Ellis, Animal Shelter Office Manager Gattelman, Sewer Inspector Lanum, Redevelopment Director Cahill, City Attorney Merkley and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the minutes of January 26, 2005, seconded Building Commissioner Segraves and carded unanimously. SOLICITOR'S PERMIT Chris Dunn of 1813 Rowan Street, Louisville, Ky. came before the Board to request a door- to-door solicitors permit to sell wholesale meat. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the permit with the stipulation that he not sell before 9 a.m. or after 7 p.m. each day, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously. COMMENTS: Councilperson Sellers said the concrete has been taken off the sidewalk on Veterans Parkway but is still in the grass. She asked if the concrete could be taken away. Mike Lanum said it would be disposed of. Parks Director Poff asked the status of the light poles at the Terrace Lawn. Mayor Waiz said Cinergy is suppose to be taking care of this. Planning and Zoning Director Hicks said there would be Zoning Regulation amendment for the INAP property River Ridge. f'~. i Personnel Director Calabro said the Mid West representative would be here February 9, 2005. Personnel Director Calabro passed out information on Earned Income Tax Credit. Personnel Director Calabro said PERF has a new member handbook. Personnel Director Calabro said a Blood Drive would be held February 18, 2005 from 11:30- 4:30 p.m. at the Fieldhouse. Personnel Director Calabro said Employee Policy and Procedure handbooks should be passed out soon. Police Chief Ashabranner thanked Engineer Miller for getting the parking lot at Corydon Porter graveled. Vehicle Maintenance Director Dmry asked about city employees being able to contribute extra money to their PERF. Personnel Director Calabro said he would need to inquire in the Clerk Treasurer's office. Building Commissioner Segraves said the Nextel contract is up this month and asked if we will continue with them. Mayor Waiz said we will continue month to month with Nextel. There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by Councilp~rson Sellers to adjourn at 9:45 a.m., seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carded unanimously.
