OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
DECEMBER 15, 2004
City Engineer Miller, in Mayor Waiz's absence called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of
the roll those members present were: Building Commissioner Segraves sitting in for City Engineer
Miller and Councilperson Sellers.
Also present were: Building Commissioner Segraves, Fire Chief Miles, Police Chief Ashabranner,
Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Parks Director Poff, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Street
Department Director Ellis, Planning and Zoning Director Hicks, City Attorney Merkley, Personnel
Director Calabro, Redevelopment Director Cahill, City Attorney Merkley and Deputy Clerk Mayfield.
Building Commissioner Segraves made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by
Councilperson Sellers and carded unanimously.
Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the minutes of 12-8-04, seconded by
Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously.
RESIDENT ONLY PARKING
Janet Casey who resides at 416 E. 7th Street asked the Board to approve a resident only
parking sign by her residence. Police ChiefAshabranner said he would send someone to
check out the location and report back to the Board.
MUNICIPAL INSURANCE ALLIANCE
Dan Kramer with Municipal Insurance Alliance appeared before the Board. He is here to
visit with the department heads regarding liability insurance.
WARRANTY DEED AND AGREEMENT
City Attorney Merkley presented to the Board for approval a warranty deed and agreement to
deed a small piece of property to Clark Memorial Hospital. It is .706 acres near Tenth and
Spring Streets located behind the former fireworks store. Redevelopment Director Cahill
suggested that a Quit-Claim Deed be done instead of a Warranty Deed. Attorney Merkley
said a Quitclaim deed could be done. Councilperson Sellers questioned why the property is
being given to the hospital instead of being sold. Attorney Merkley said the property is of no
use to the City. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to table this action until next week,
seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously.
COMMENTS:
Building Commissioner Segraves introduced his new employee Mary Frey.
Wastewater Treatment Director Crawford thanked Street Commissioner Ellis and Vehicle
Maintenance Director Drury for their help selling the trailer.
