OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
DECEMBER 8, 2004
Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were:
Councilperson Sellers and Engineer Miller.
Also present were: Building Commissioner Segraves, Street Commissioner Ellis, Police Chief
Ashabranner, Vehicle Maintenance Director Dmry, Fire Chief Miles, Redevelopment Director Cahill,
Coordinator Davis, Personnel Director Calabro, Wastewater Treatment Director Crawford, Animal
Shelter Director Wilder, Parks Director Poff, Planning and Zoning Director Hicks, City Attorney
Merkley and Deputy Clerk Mayfield.
City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by
Councilperson Sellers and carded unanimously.

seconded by Engineer Miller and can'ied unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS
STOP LIGHT BID
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the bid from the Drew Company to install a stop
light at the Quadrangle, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS
SPRING STREET CLOSURE
Aaron Pike with Padgett Co. appeared before the Board to ask approval to close a lane on
Spring Street on Monday, December 20, 2004 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon in order to set rooftop
units at Homer Novelty. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the closure, seconded
by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously.
FUNDS FOR FUEL
City Attorney Merkley said the City Council has requested information on the status of the
fuel money shortage. Vehicle Maintenance Director Dmry said he is in the red $13,000.00 at
this time. By the end of the year it will be $15,000 to $20,000.00. Several departments said
they have extra monies to help out.
MISTLETOE SALES
Ron Long appeared before the Board to ask permission to sell mistletoe on the ramp by 1-65
in Jeffersonville. Mayor Waiz suggested finding private property to sell on. He said it would
be unsafe to allow him to sell on the ramp. Mayor Waiz said he would try to come up with a
location but could not guarantee it.
COMMENTS:
Fire Chief Miles reminded everyone to be safe during the holidays.
Street Commissioner Ellis said Eastern Boulevard is being milled and will be paved Thursday
or Friday of this week.
Street Commissioner Ellis said he is going to require that Armstrong Farm residents set their
trash cans in front of their residences. He said his tracks couldn't handle the alley condition.
Administrator Rich Davis talked about network security. He reminded everyone to keep his
or her passwords out of sight. Administrator Davis asked that Matt Dyer not be allowed or
asked to work on the city's computers as he does not work for the City.
Police Chief Ashabranner said "Shop With A Cop" was held on Monday. Thirty-two kids
were taken. He said a Christmas party would be held at the Field house Thursday, December
16, 2004 from 4-6 pm. to give away bikes.
Personnel Director Calabro said she sent e-mails to all departments telling them that Dan
Kramer with Alliance Municipal Insurance wants to interview with each department head and
will then report to Clark General Insurance. He will be here Wednesday, December 15, 2004
at the BPW meeting·
Parks Director Poff said a fundraiser for the Center for the Lay Ministries would be held
Friday, December l0th from 7-9 pm. at the Field house.
City Court employee Stacy Wolpert asked what to do with three metal desks that her
department is replacing. Building Commissioner Segraves said he would take a look at them.
Attorney Merkley said Councilperson Fetz had a complaint that people are driving up onto

the sidewalk at 8 and Chippewa Drive ~n order to pass vehicles that are turmng from 8
Street. Street Commissioner Ellis will put up a sign.
Mayor Waiz said he and the City Council would host a Christmas lunch on Monday,
December 20, 2004 for all city employees in the Mayor's conference room.
There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by Engineer Miller to
adjourn at 70 .wm~///~ by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously.
