OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
MONDAY SEPTEMBER 16~ 1996
Safety Director Anthony Harrod called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.
M. and on call of roll those members present were; Personnel Director
Harold Lakema~ and Appointee F~re Chief Mlchae!~.Smlth.
Also present were~ City Attorney Anne~ ..M_a~i.e' S~dwick Sewage Office
Manager Robert Goldman~ City Engineer Robert Miller, Park

Director Lakeman' made the motion to approve th~ minutes and. the
payroll of the meeting of September 9, 1996 as presented;..seconded by
Fire Chief Michael Smith carried unanimously. .
VARIOUS PROBLEMS
James Bennett along with Nellie K~owland were present ~efore the board
concerning'traffic ,dralnage~ electrial problems ~nd street signs on
Falrvlew Magnolia and Front Streets. Building Commissioner William
Gavin~ Sewage Director Robert Goldman and Police Captain David Schmidt
will check out the various problems and report back to the board on
next week. The board will notify Mr. Bennett and Mrs. Knowland if
improvements are to be made.
NO PARK_NG AND RESIDENTS SIGNS
Becky Zurschmiede appeared before the board to request that in the
t~rn around at the end of Cardlnal Lane, there be a no parking sign
posted to keep non-residents from parking there. Police Captain David
Schmidt will check out the area to see if the no parking sign should
be posted then report back to the board She als9 ,,~nquired about
resident parking signs only for the residents onliC~dlnal Lane and was
informed that each resident would have to come before the board and
request a permit and that each permit would be $1~.~0 each. The board
will vote on the no parking sign at the end of Cardinal Lane on next
week and contact her. She will try to get the neighborhood to
purchase the resident only parking signs.
MEDICAL EXPENSE REIMBURSEMENTS
City Attorney Anne Marie Sedwick ask that the medical expense
reimbursements be handled the same as in the past. Director Lakeman
made the motion to approve the request., seconded by Fire Chief
Michael Smith and carried unanimously.

LETTER OF RESIGNATION ..... ' ""
City Attorney Anne Marie Sedwick presented the board wi~b a letter of
resignation from Pglice .~f~ic~r, Jamgs~Qa~b tO .~e.approved. Director
Lakeman made the motion to approve the resignation letter, seconded by
Fire Chief Michael Smith and carried unanlmoulsy.
INDUSTRIAL NIGHTMARE PARKING
Safety Director Anthony Harrod asked the board for permission to put 4
handicap signs on the Industrial Nightmare building at Ohio Ave, along
with a loading zone sign only. City Engineer Robert Miller will
install signs. Director Lakeman made the motion for request to be
approved, seconded by Fire Chief Michael Smith and carried unanimously
STOP SIGNS
Bob Zol_~man representlve for Elks Point Homeowners Assoc_,a~lon was
present before the board to request that 2 additional stop signs be
posted at Cypress Point and Elk Polnt Blvds.~ due to the new entrance
5o make the Blvds a three way stop. Police Captain Schmidt will check
out the location report ~ack to the board and ~hey will act on the
request nex~ week.
There being no further business to come be_ore the Board of Public
Works and Safety, Director Lakeman.~ .ma~e. th9 motion to adjourn at
10=OSa.m., seconded by Fire Chief Michael Smith, and
unanimously.
