JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY, DECEMBER 21, 1998
Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m., and on call of the roll those members
present were: City Engineer Bob Miller, and Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman.
Also present were: Fire Chief Mike Smith, Building Commissioner Larry Decker, Police Chief
Mike Pavey, Wastewater Treatment Assistant Director Traylor, Parks Asst. Superintendent
Donnie Poole, Planning and Development Director Jana Ecker, Animal Shelter Asst. Manager
Rick Broy, City Attorney Galligan, and Clerk Lyrme Kempf.
City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 12-14-98 as presented,
seconded by Sewage Office Manager Goldman and carried unanimously.
Sewage Office Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the payroll as presented,
seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
HIRINGS
Fire Chief Smith asked the Board to approve hiring two new firefighters. Engineer Miller made
the motion to approve hiring Greg Hammond and Gary Waterson to become effective January 1,
1999, seconded by Manager Goldman and carried unanimously.
PROMOTIONS
Fire Chief Smith asked the Board to approve promoting Mac Kircher to Major, Phil Lovan to
Captain, Eric Schnatter to Lieutenant, and Mike McCutcheon to Sergeant. Manager Goldman
made the motion to approve the promotions, seconded by Engineer Miller and carded
unanimously.
BID OPENING
One bid was received from Cemen Tech for $32,500.00 on the purchase 15om the Jeff Sewage
Utility of (1) One 1991 Model SPD-30C Cake Sludge Processor, (1)One 1991 Bulk Lime Silo,
and (2) Two Home Made Belt Conveyors. City Attorney Galligan recommended the Board
approve the bid. Manager Goldman made the motion to approve Cemen Tech's bid of
$32,500.00, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
STUMLER EXCAVATING
Mayor Galligan asked Mr. Stumler to appear before the Board in regards to a situation with a
manhole that was jackhammered. Mr. Stumler explained that the angle and boot size was wrong
when they started the job in Cherokee Heights. After much discussion Mr. Stumler said the
problem will be corrected.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, City
Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn at 9:50 a.m., seconded by Sewage Office Manager
Goldman and carded unanimously.
