JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY, AUGUST 31, 1998
Mayor Tom Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m., and on call of the roll those
members present were: City Engineer Bob Miller, and Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman.
Also present were: Vehicle Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Wastewater Treatment Plant
Assistant Director Jim Traylor, Fire Chief Mike Smith, Street Commissioner Bobby Ervin,
Animal Shelter Manager Rick Broy, Building Commissioner Larry Decker, Parks Director Rick
Elliott, City Attorney Anne Made Galligan, Police Detective Jack Fleeman, and Clerk Suzy
Bass.
Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Engineer
Miller and carded unanimously.
DEAD END
Mayor Galligan informed the Board that he has no problem making Frank Street a dead end
street as requested at the previous meeting. The motion was made by Engineer Miller to make
Frank St a dead end street, seconded by Manager Goldman and carried unanimously.
WATER DAMAGE ON DOVE
Doris Hoffman, 1411 Dove Dr., appeared before the Board concerning damage done to her
home from the sewer backing up in her house. She is on a Y-tap with Corky Aspatore. He had
the Sewer Dept. at his home because he was having the same problem. When they ran dye
through his line, it backed up into her home and stained her carpet. The City did find that the
blockage was in the City's line and the problem was fixed. Attorney Galligan told Ms. Hoffman
to bring the City the documents and receipts after she replaces her carpet along with the receipts
from last year when she had the carpet originally installed. She also asked her to bring proof of
what the insurance company has already paid her. The motion was made by Engineer Miller to
table any action until the City receives all documents and receipts, seconded by Manager
Goldman and carded unanimously.
RELEASE CREDIT TO LANSBERG COVE
Engineer Miller told the Board that he received a call from Roger Smith to go out and inspect
Lansberg Cove. After inspection, Engineer Miller recommended that the Board release
$55,761.25 credit for Lansberg Cove. The motion was made by Manager Goldman to approve
release of credit for Lansberg Cove for $55,761.25 seconded by Engineer Miller and carded
unanimously.
GATE AT CENSUSBUREAU
Engineer Miller told the Board that he received a request from Tom Stanley, representing the
Census Bureau to extend the gate onto the City's easement on Pennsylvania Ave behind Bldg 42.
He informed Engineer Miller that they will be hiring more people in the future. The motion was
made by Engineer Miller to approve this request seconded by Manager Goldman and carried
unanimously. Engineer Miller did inform Mr. Stanley that if the City ever needs to get on the
easement, the Census Bureau will be responsible for removing the gate.
MEMORY BRICK
Nellie Knowland informed the Board that she has had several people ask her to request that the
City have a memory brick for Cowboy for all he has done for the City. Mayor Galligan informed
Ms. Knowland that he would take care of it.
There being no further business to come before the City, the motion was made by Manager
Goldman to adjourn at 9:55 AM seconded by Engineer Miller and carded unanimously.
