JEFFERSONVILLE, iNDIANA MONDAY, MARCH 9, 1998.
Planning and Development Director Jim Urban called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m., and on
call of the roll those members present were: City Engineer Bob Miller, and Sewage Office
Manager Bob Goldman.
Also present were: Parks Director Rick Elliott, Street Commisssioner Bobby Ervin, Vehicle
Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Wastewater
Treatment Plant Assistant Director Scott Timmerman, Animal Shelter Manager Rick Broy,Fire
Chief Mike Smith, Building Commissioner Larry Decker, Police Chief Mike Pavey, and Clerk
Lyrme Kempf.
City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the sewage claims as presented, seconded by
Sewage Office Manager Goldman and carried unanimously.
ROADBLOCK FOR LEUKEMIA
Susan Lawrence asked the Board's permission to hold a roadblock to benefit the Leukemia
Society on Friday, March 13th between 3 and 6 p.m. The locations for the roadblocks are at
Market and Main Street, and Ice Cream Willie's. Sewage Office Manager Goldman made the
motion to approve the roadblock, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
HANDICAPPED PARKING
Betty Patterson of 833 Walnut Street asked approval of a handicapped parking sign. The police
chief will have someone check the location out. Sewage Office Manager Goldman made the
motion to approve the handicapped parking sign pending Police Chief Pavey's review, seconded
by City Engineer Miller and carded unanimously.
PURCHASE OFCHECK VALVES
Wastewater Treatment Plant Assistant Director Timmerman asked approval to purchase 3 check
valves in the amount of approximately $1,500.33 to repair the digestor blowers. Sewage Office
Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the purchase of the check valves to repair the
digestor blower, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carded unanimously.
30 MINUTE PARKING
Street Commissioner Bobby Ervin spoke to the Board requesting 30 minute parking in the 500
block of Spring Street during business hours to allow more parking for customers. Sewage Office
Manager made the motion to approve the 30 minute parking signs, seconded by City Engineer
Miller and carried unanimously.
VENDOR PERMIT
Tom Greene of Memphis, Indiana requested approval to cook and sell food for special events.
Planning and Development Director Urban told Mr. Greene he would need a taxpayer ID
number, a Health Dept. permit and the Board would need to know the location he will set up at
before he can be granted a vendor permit.
HANDICAPPED PARKING
Police Chief Mike Pavey said he was approached by someone requesting 2 handicapped parking
signs in front of the American Legion. The Board said they would look into this and report back
next week.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, Sewage
Office Manager Bob Goldman made the motion to adjourn at 9:50 a.m., seconded by City
Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
