HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-12-2002MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA AUGUST 12, 2002 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present Were: City Engineer Miller and Councilperson Waiz. Also present were: Wastewater Treatment Dir. Crawford, Vehicle Maintenance Director Dmry, Building Commissioner Gavin, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Animal Shelter Office Manager Gartelman, Engineer Dixon, Coordinator Davis, Clerk Treasurer Wilder, Street Commissioner Grant, Planning and Zoning Director Ecker, Personnel Director Ellis, Parks Director Elliott, Police ChiefPavey, Fire Chief Mike Smith. and Clerk Lynne Mayfield. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 7-8-02 and 7-15-02 as presented, seconded by Councilperson Waiz and carried unanimously. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Councilperson Waiz and carried unanimously. 338 W. MAPLE STREET Leon Saphara appeared before the Board in regard to the h0fise at 338 W. Maple Street, which backs up to his house. He said there was a fire there six m0hths ago and the house is still boarded up. He said rats, possums, and raccoons are living in the house as well as homeless people. Mr. Saphara has contacted Councilperson Merkley and Building Commissioner Gavin in regard to this problem. Mr. Saphara said a Mr. Islet owns the property and has most likely gotten the insurance money for the fire. The property is also overgrown. Mr. Saphara said he is fed up and wants something done. Mayor Galligan said he and Building Commissioner Gavin would get in touch with Mr. Saphara this week after contacting the property owner. Mayor Galligan said something would be done. NELL1E KNOWLAND Nellie Knowland asked Street Commissioner Gram where he is going to park a dumpster for her neighborhood to use for the weekend. He said it would be parked near Munich Welding. Mayor Galligan told Commissioner Grant to deliver the dumpster on Friday and to take pictures of the residences with excess garbage. RIVERSIDE DRIVE Councilperson Merkley told the Board that he has gotten complaints about motorcycles speeding on Riverside Drive and making a lot of noise. Mayor Galligan said he would take care of it. There being no further business to come before the Board the motion was made by Engineer Miller to adjourn at 9:50 a.m. seconded by Councilperson Waiz and carried unanimously. ATTEST: CL~L~AS~R
