Home My WebLink About2006-OR-08ORDINANCE NO. 2006-OR- 8 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING [ 72.03 and [ 72.99 OF THE JEFFERSONVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA: WHEREAS, Section 72.03 STOPPING, STANDING, OR PARKING PROHIBITED; NO SIGNS REQUIRED of the Jeffersonville Municipal Code provides that No person shall stop, stand, or park a vehicle except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with law or the directions of a police officer or traffic-control device in any of the following places (a) On a sidewalk (b) In front of a public or private driveway; (c) Within an intersection; (d) Within 18 feet of a fire hydrant; (e) On a crosswalk; (D Within 20 feet of a crosswalk; (g) Within 30 feet upon the approach ro any flashing beacon, stop sign, or traffic- control signal located at the side of the roadway; On) Within 50 feet of the nearest rail of a railroad crossing; (i) Within 20 feet of the driveway to any emergency vehicle garage or parking space, or on the opposite side of the street of the driveway or space for the same entrance; (j) Alongside or opposite any street excavation or obstruction when stopping, standing, or parking would obstruct traffic; (k) On the roadway side of any vehicle stopped or parked at the edge of curb or a street (Double parking); (1) Upon any bridge or other elevated structure upon a highway or within a highway tunnel; (m) At any place or location where official signs prohibit stopping or parking; (n) In parking areas designated for handicapped persons unless the operator or a passenger is handicapped; (o)In those areas marked and designated as fire lanes; (p)In any area designated as no parking by a yellow curb marking; (q) Along any curb in a direction opposed to the proper and main flow of traffic on any street or alley; and WHEREAS, [72.03 of the Jeffersonville Municipal Code is in need of an amendment; and NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED r_hat Section 72.03 of the Jeffersonville Municipal Code is hereby amended to add paragraph (r) ro read as follows: Beyond the dine 1Lmit designated for that parking sign; [72.99 PENALTY WHEREAS, [72.99 of the Jeffersonville Municipal Code is in need of an amendment; and NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED that Secdon 72.99(B) (2) of the Jeffersonville Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: Any person receiving a cxrarion as the result of a violation of any of the provisions of this chapter shall pay an assessment of $15 $25.00 (except as hereinafter provided) if paid within 72 hours of the dme of the violation to the Clerk-Treasurer or to the officer m charge at the Jeffersonville Police Headquarters at the City-County Buildingi 519 East Court Avenue, Jeffersonville, Indiana.
