AT ANY BOAT DOCK, SLIP, OR HARBOR FACILITY
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville is a river community consisting of boat docks, slips,
and various harbor facilities;
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville recognizes the importance
of ensuring that the public has adequate access to these facilities;
WHEREAS, the public boat docks, slips, and other public harbor facilities are not designated
nor suitable for camping since they are in residential areas;
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville believes it is important that
adequate parking is available for the use and enjoyment of these facilities;
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville believes the parking of
recreational vehicles at these facilities impairs the use and enjoyment of these public facilities;
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville is authorized by Indiana law
to adopt laws to protect the welfare of the general public;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of
Jeffersonville that the overnight parking of recreational vehicles at public boat docks, slips, and other
public harbor facilities is hereby prohibited;
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that for the purposes of this ordinance "recreational
vehicles" is hereby defined as a vehicle w/th or without motive power equipped exclusively for
living quarters for persons traveling upon the highways or a recreation camping unit designed for
temporary living quarters that is mounted on wheels and constructed with collapsible sidewalls that
fold or sidewalls that telescope for towing by a motor vehicle;
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that anyone parking a recreational vehicle overnight at a
public boat dock, slip or other public harbor facility shall be assessed a fine in the amount of $50.00
per day per recreational vehicle;
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the police shall tow any recreational vehicle parked
overnight at a public boat dock, slip or other public facility that remains parked with the owner of
the recreational vehicle responsible for any and all reasonable costs associated with the towing.

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that for the purposes of this ordinance "overnight" is
hereby defined as the period between dusk and dawn.
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
