FOR THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE
IN THE STATE OF INDIANA
ORDINANCE NO. 2005-OR- 2
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 35.08 OF THE
JEFFERSONVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE
REGARDING HOLIDAY PAY FOR CITY EMPLOYEES
WHEREAS, Article 35.08 of the Jeffersonville Muulcipal Code (the "Code"),
provides that if an employee works on any designated city holiday, then he or she shall
receive one and one-half times his regular pay as full compensation for holiday leave pay;
and
WHEREAS, the Code doe not allow for compensation for an employee who is
called to work during an emergency; and
WHEREAS, the Jeffersonville Common Council (the "Council"), believes that
employees should be adequately compensated for working on any designated city holiday
and in the event an employee must work during an emergency;
NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED that Article 35.08 of the
Code is hereby amended effective December 1, 2004 to read as follows:
Article 35.08 (D)
If an employee exclucting pohce officers and
firefighters, works on any city designated holiday, he
or she shall be compenshted at one and one-half
times their regular rate of pay in addition to holiday
pay for all hours worked;
Article 35.08
If an employee excluding police officers and
firefighters, is called to work by an authorized
individual during an emergency, the employee shall be
paid a minimum of two (2) hours. The employee
shall receive time and one-half for actual rime
worked. If the employee works less than two (2)
hours, he or she shall receive one and one-half times
for actual time
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and
approval.
