EMPLOYEE HEALTHCARE INSURANCE BENEFITS
WHEREAS, in Ordinance 99-OR-18, the Common Council of the City of
Jeffersonville recognized the Indiana Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council, Inc. (the
"FOP"~ as the bargaining agent for the City's police officers; and
WHEREAS, m Resolution 01-R-30, the Common Council of the City of
Jeffersonville recognized the Indiana Association of Firefighters Local 558 (the "Union") as
the bargaining agent for the City's firefighrers; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersomffile (the "City") and the FOP entered into a
contract for the calendar years January 1, 2005 through December 31, 2008 (the "Contract");
and
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville (the "City") and the I.A.F.F. Loca1558
entered into a contract for the calendar year January 1, 2005 through December 31, 2008
(the "Contract"); and
WHEREAS, the City has acted upon an ordinance regarding the employee
contributions to the City's self-funded employee health insurance plan and upon benefit
changes to that plan;
WHEREAS, the changes in employee contributions to the plan for 2005 will require
a deduction of $48.00 per month for those employees choosing single coverage and $127.00
per month for those choosing family coverage. The changes in benefits beginning April
2005 are an increase in the co-pay for prescriptions to $10.00 for genetic prescriptions and
$20.00 for brand name prescriptions;
WHEREAS, in 2006 the employee cost of coverage will be 20% of the cost of the
plan with the City paying the remaining 80%. The cost to the employee wi]l not exceed
$100.00 per month for single and $200.00 per month for family through the year 2008. As
costs of the plan change, employees are sharing in that change with the City on a 20-80 basis
until the ceiling of $100.00 or $200.00 employee share. In 2006 there will be an increase in
co-pay for wellness benefits (office visits, etc.) from $10.00 to $20.00 and an increase in the
annual deductible in the plan to $I00.00 per incident and $250.00 total.
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens and taxpayers of the City of
Jeffersonville that the City approve this ordinance; and
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Common
Council of the City of Jeffersonville does hereby approve the increase in employee
heakhcare insurance benefits.
